Super cute and creative! As a huge MW fan, I would absolutely play a full game like this. <3

Fun little game, and the design is very cute! Unfortunately, the Carpentry skill never levelled for me either, and every try at crafting failed. Baked lots of pies, though! For balance, the pies might be a bit too high-priced??? I racked up Gs pretty fast after I could start baking. Not sure if that's intended or not. :)
The flashbacks threw me off at first too, but I'm pretty sure all of them are memories, triggered when the mc is investigating. There's a line before you start investigating about remembering more, but I think something even clearer would be helpful. The non-linear format is interesting and works well here. I only wish I had gotten the hint sooner that's what was going on. :)
I think this has a lot of potential! The dialogue is snappy, and I like the watercolor feel of the art. I didn't realise this was a demo until I reached an ending, lol. It might be helpful to state that in the title and/or page description, because certain story points were rather abrupt, and knowing this is merely a demo explains that. :)
Good luck with this! I'll be checking back!
Recently, I was on a website for DOS games and such, and ran across Mario Typing. It was fun for a bit, but you're absolutely right; it was made to teach. I love your idea to use typing as a fun mechanic rather than a learning method (though that has its place too, of course).
1) Aaaaand of course my story-oriented brain immediately created a goofy tale of a mousy secretary transported to a D&D-type world with only her keyboard/typewriter which is now magical, and she, along with the party of friends she gathers along the way, has to fight the Big Bad and his minions to save the kingdom, get home etc etc. :D
2) Your choice of awesome and very epic music fit perfectly with my story, haha. I enjoyed the simple, clean, well-done graphics too.
3) Maybe just me, but I found the font for the spells and in the textbox a bit hard to read. I would've liked both a tad larger. And/or a little more spacing between the letters? Or possibly it was the all-caps? Or again, possibly just me.
4) Different typing scenarios jumped to mind too, to change up the gameplay. (Which you've probably already thought of.) Like in Mario Typing, the faster you type, the faster the character runs--great for an escape scene. Or type to dodge a series of falling rocks, for example. And for a stealth scene, have a longer timer but if you hit the wrong key at any time, that's basically a twig cracking underfoot--too many of those mistakes and your cover is blown.
5) I agree with a previous poster that a spell cool-down would be more balanced. Other than that, I thought the choice of spells was fun, with some variety for strategy. (And yes, I did attempt to copy-paste, just to see if I could, you know, and was happy to find that I couldn't.)
6) I'll shut up now and let you get back to dev-ing! Good luck!
A couple minor things I've noticed while playing around.
1) On the Is This You page, it returns Your full name is Jane $astname. I'm pretty sure you just forgot the 'l' in the cust-review Passage. It also says You have $eyecolour eyes. Looks like you just need to add MC_ before all three eyecolour in the cust-review Passage.
2) In the Saves and Settings dialogs, the semi-transparent box seems to bleed over the bottom border if the page is zoomed in too far.
Nice work on this! Art is nice, music is epic and game-like, story is interesting and branched in ways I didn't expect. The Prince seems rather self-aware for a game character, and I'm curious to find out why! One nit-pick, for me, the cuts to sword slashes got a bit distracting as there were quite a lot of them. But that's just preference. :)
Looking forward to more!
Really well done! Art, music, writing, all excellent. Despite the game being short, the world felt real with real characters inhabiting it, and had me curious as to how things would turn out. Choices felt meaningful as well. My only minor complaints would be QoL, like a save feature and a button to skip through previously read dialogue (I did just one playthrough). Great work from the team--I really enjoyed this!
A few comments on the dev side and possible spoilers below:
This might be a my computer problem, but wanted to note it just in case. Oddly, the words on the main menu were sliced in half horizontally so I could see only the top half of each word, except Quit, which was fine.
Also, I came upon a...quirk? After getting the message after dealing with P, I went back to the blue captain (I'm so sorry, I just can't remember the names) to see if he'd say anything new, but he again asked me if I were ready to face P.
Finally, though brief, I really felt that Al and V had some history--it was great. I would have liked at least a little more from Tira, and thought she gave up her father pretty quickly. That may be in line with her character, but we know so little about her that she doesn't feel as authentic as some of the others. Just a nitpick, though! ^_^ She and Al are cute together.
As I love Discworld, Monty Python and LotR, I had to try this. So far, I am not disappointed. The writing is generally Discworld-delicious, some of the comedy Pythonesque. What I find missing, if I may offer a humble...consideration for future projects, is a bit of the LotR deliberateness. Because NYMS is written for everyone, it ends up feeling rather one-size-fits-all that doesn't really fit anyone well. I chose svelte female elf, yet the narration feels from a male pov, and there has been nothing unique based on my choice of race. At one point she was even carrying a guy, making me wonder if that happens even if you choose halfling (I cannot see Frodo carrying Aragorn, for example). I realise making each race and sex distinct, especially in such a long Interactive Fiction would be hard, but I would sacrifice some of the frequent quips and puns for a few flavourful lines to make our chosen mc more unique. All that said, this is still a fun and silly story! Thank you for this, and I'm off to keep playing!
Thanks again for playing my game! I just noticed you had made one and wanted to return the kindness. I honestly usually scroll past games with anime art style, so I'd never played this before. I'm glad I played! It was very atmospheric. The lovely art, music and writing worked together so well. I got a couple of the shorter endings before the longest, and it was great to see more of the story unfold each time. Amazing work for your first game!
(After playing this, I now see why you liked mare best of my ghost guys, lolol!)
Well, that got unexpectedly dark, lol! Interesting story so far, and I like the choice of 'power' you get. And the different art styles work perfectly for each part of the story. Thanks for this demo!
One thing that tripped me up: at one point, the instructions say 'click right mouse button to escape'. For me, it was the left mouse button (I'm right-handed and use a regular mouse). Right-clicking just took me to the Save screen.
Thanks and congrats to the whole team! I agree with both the previous posters. The art is beautiful, and I loved the historical detail. I really enjoyed the nerve mechanic as well; it's so fitting for a gothic suspense. The writing is also nice, but I do agree the beginning is stronger and that the 'monster' reveal at the end didn't quite match the gothic tone set at the beginning. That said, I totally understand! I entered the jam myself, and I know how short once month can be! (And how rewarding it feels to have finished in time.) So amazing job for the one-month deadline, and if you keep working on this, I am absolutely going to check it out! :)
