Idk if we have the same problem, but if you're on pc try to zoom out the game (with the three dot on the right corner of the screen). When the game started I too had a black screen, but when I zoomed the site page from 100% to 80% I was able to see the text.

You don't need to grab them. As an example, zoom on the mirror. Hover the cursor on the wall, when it becomes a hand (with the index raised), click on the wall and the object that you need will get selected automatically  :)

At the start, it was difficult getting the hang of it, but after all I enjoyed this game! The ending was really bittersweet <3
