Woah this game was a trip, what a fun concept! Took me a few tries to understand the time mechanic, but once I did I was hooked. Very clever puzzle design and cute visuals!

Thank you for the lovely comment! Glad you enjoyed!

Great job Corash! I first learned Game Maker when I was 12 and I was never able to make anything as fun and polished as this (in fact my submission is the first game I've ever finished lol).

I agree with others that the game gets pretty difficult around Level 6 when the purple orbs are introduced. Still, I had a lot of fun and think you have a bright future ahead of you!

Congratulations!

Thank you!! I should probably have more levels and make the difficulty slowly scale up, but I'm still proud of how it came out. Glad you enjoyed it!

Thank you!!

Thanks Piers! I probably should swap "precise" for "frantic" in the description based on what I've been hearing lol, but I'm glad you enjoyed!

Thank you! And it's the first game I've ever made actually! I'm glad you enjoyed :)

Piers & niosis, I can't believe you made this in such a short time span!

Not only are the visuals and sound incredibly unique and polished, the rhythm gameplay is also super addicting. I thought the worldbuilding and narrative framing of the game were super interesting as well, and the fact that this runs as well as it does on web is a feat of optimization.

In terms of feedback, I'd say that if this were a longer game I'd love to see some combat variety. Maybe there are combos or weapons you can unlock that have various benefits, or enemies who change the song on you, like speeding or slowing the tempo. I would also love to see your worldbuilding expanded on in small cutscenes or dialogue, perhaps in a hub world environment between levels.

For a game jam though, I think this game is perfect. Wonderful work!

Copying my comments from the game page. Great job on this Asterisk, I had a lot of fun!

In terms of improvements, I would probably gradually scale up the difficulty, right now the jump between Levels 1-3 is pretty extreme. And since this is a game for experienced platformer players, I would recommend making the first few levels a little hard to help with that >:)

I also noticed that holding space bar allows you to slide up walls, which was a cool feature but the physics of it felt a little finicky at times. Maybe clamping the speed when sliding would help make that more predictable.

Other than that, I'm loving the game!

Thanks for updating! Apologies that I wasn't able to leave more feedback before the jam deadline.

So fun! The movement reminds me a bit of the N+ Series. Took me 58 attempts to complete level 6 lol, I had to stop after that bc my skills weren't ready but still had a great time! Will prob return to beat those other levels soon...
