Update: fixed, and sorry for the inconvenience! In the first hours after release some exports in the free generator did not work as expected (the Map export buttons appeared before a map was made, and some exports only showed a download button at the bottom of the page, which could not be scrolled to on itch). Both are fixed now: every export downloads straight away and the generator window scrolls. Thanks for your patience!

Fixed, and sorry for the inconvenience! In the first hours of v1.5 some generator exports did not work as expected: in the Map tab the Export Tiled / Godot buttons showed up before a map was generated, and the UI kit, creature, Godot, Aseprite and Crowd exports only added a download button at the bottom of the page, which could not be scrolled to on itch. Both are fixed now: every export downloads straight away and the generator window scrolls. Thanks for your patience!

Hi! I make Lumina Pixel, a top-down desert / Arabian pixel art series on one shared 16×16 grid with chibi 16×32 characters. Today three new packs joined the series:

🌴 Plants Pack ($1.99)

114 animated desert and oasis plants: palms, acacia, ghaf and fruit trees, cacti, flowers, reeds and a few magic plants. Crops grow in 6 stages, trees can be chopped, drop their fruit and fall, flowers open and close. Tilled-soil and oasis-water autotiles, Tiled and Godot 4 sample farm included.

🍲 Food Pack ($1.99)

105 Arabian foods and drinks as 16×16 icons (mansaf, kabsa, falafel, kunafa, Arabic coffee, mint tea…), each in 3 eaten stages with a small animation and a floating pickup. 10 of them can be held by the characters (drink, bite, carry a tray or basket).

Also updated for free in v1.5

  • Animals: 98 fully animated animals, 9 rideable
  • Vehicles: 100 vehicles, riders that sit inside carts, boats and jeeps
  • Desert Night Terrors: 65 enemies
  • Arabian Pack: 122 outfits, headwear, accessories and shoes
  • Weapons & Magic: 105 weapons and spells
  • Desert Kingdom: 93 animated buildings and landmarks

Full notes: v1.5 devlog

Everything works with the free Lumina Pixel generator, which builds and recolours characters and tiles in the browser and exports sprite sheets: https://mardlihabibi.itch.io/lumina-pixel-generator

The art is made with AI assistance, then reviewed and corrected by hand. Feedback and requests are very welcome!

v1.5 is live: 900+ desert assets, generator search & export checklist

98 fully animated animals, riders for 13 vehicles, 65 night enemies, and three new packs (Plants, Food, UI). The free generator can now search every asset at once and export several formats in one zip.

Questions or requests? Reply here, I read everything.

AI disclosure first: these sprites are made with AI assistance in a code-built pipeline, then checked and corrected frame by frame. Every product page says so too.

I'm building a series for Middle-East and desert settings, because top-down assets for them are still hard to find on itch. Before I make the next big batch, I'd like to hear what you need.

What already exists (all on one 16 px grid with 16×32 chibi characters, so every piece fits every other piece):

  • Free Character & Tile Generator (in the browser or offline): mix hair, ghutra, turbans, hijab, robes, beards and weapons, recolour anything, export sprite sheets + JSON, roll random maps and export them to Tiled or Godot.
  • Character Base: 103 animations in 4 directions, paper-doll layers.
  • Rideable camel, horse and donkey, plus a motorbike, bicycle and flying carpet, with riding animations.
  • Arabian-legend enemies (jinn, ifrit, ghoul, nasnas…) and 2 bosses.
  • A desert town tileset: stackable cliffs, 20 houses, a city wall with a gate.
  • Free: starter sprites, a 124-tile souk tileset and a skeleton warrior. Godot 4 and Tiled files included.

What I'm considering next: oasis farming (crops with growth stages), a palace and wonders (pyramid, sphinx), a dhow harbour, interiors, food and UI, more enemies and bosses.

Questions for you:

  1. Which setting do you need most: Arabian souk, Bedouin desert, Ottoman / Anatolian, Ancient Egypt, Persian, or a coastal harbour?
  2. Top-down or side view? 16 px or 32 px?
  3. What is missing in the packs you've found so far: characters, buildings, interiors, animals, enemies, UI or icons?
  4. Which engine do you use (Godot, Unity, GameMaker, RPG Maker…)?

Every answer helps me decide what to make first, and I'll post progress in this thread.
