Yep, if a mini gets hit its killed and removed, to keep the game quick and simple.  Synergy is simply any process where the whole becomes more than the sum of its parts, which is absolutely central to this design.

Hi, as with others, quite unclear on the rules on this one.

Set-up, do I select one of the nations and then get everything listed for them?  Also, what are the deployment zones?

The Activation Role, does this mean that if I roll, say 3, I get three activation points, letting me activate one and a half units but if I roll 4 with Japan I get 24 activation points?  That seems incredibly random and swingy so I think I've misread it.

In the actions, are Change Weapons and Set-Up each only relevant to a single model in the whole game?  Also, which weapon does the Japanese Machine Gunner start the game armed with?  What does reloading do?

Is the 6 of shock the same as 1 of wound?  Does the shock rally rule out a second action, or just mean that other actions cannot be performed until a rally is made?  If a unit hits the table edge when moving from shock, what happens to them?

You say that models have to stop when they hit difficult terrain, can models then not change direction?  Are they forced to move in straight lines?  Can they move through difficult terrain?  If they can change direction and not move through it, why would they ever 'hit' it?

With the weapons, LMG reads, Rifles within 3" roll +2  wound dice when beyond 6".  Does this mean when the target is beyond 6"?

What does being in one "team" or another do for troops?

Hi, I'm finding the rules quite unclear.

You don't say how totems are to be set up, but say that the deployment zone is on the back row around them.  So if I set up my totems on the next to back row do I have more space for deployment?

If I happen to roll the same elemental three times in a row while my opponent rolls three different ones, am I not at a huge opening disadvantage through no fault of my own?

Can elements move diagonally?

What happens when an element retaliates?  Can you retaliate against a retaliation?

Yep, players take turns placing each others minis wherever they like.  So Player A places one of Player B's minis, then Player B places one of Player A's and so on until they're all down.

I wanted something that would give a frame that you had to put the minis into so that where they were in relation to each other mattered, so that multiple models could then be better than just the sum of their parts, which is a pretty route one way of looking at Synergy, but I figured that was a good idea for the short time frame of the contest.  The only thing that I knew people would have that had multiple distinct points on it I figured would be the rules sheet.  I also thought it was a fun idea since the One Page Games are partly defined by being just one page to put the page into the game in a more direct and dynamic way, so it sort of seemed obvious once the idea occurred to me.
