I'm on linux so wasn't able to try out your game. It looks cool though. If you're able to upload a linux or web version after the jam, let me know and I'll give you feedback still. Sorry I wasn't able to rate it :(

Thanks for including a linux version! I didn't quite understand the game though. I found another button but then it just disappeared and I kept finding it (it remained outline each time after I found it initially btw). Clicked it a bunch but nothing happened. Not sure if I was doing something wrong or if that was the game?

Super fun! Would definitely play more of this is you decide to make more levels! Super cool idea and I love the different eye powers (also, shout out to another game w/ eyeball powers haha)!

Great job :D

Super fun and cool implementation of the theme! I liked the visuals. Very clean and simple in a good way! Great job :D

Ty for the help w/ the controls! I like this game! My only issue w/ it is the technical aspect of needing to click off and then on the game, but the game insta launches so the timer instantly starts so I lose out on time each run. A title screen or some delay on starting the game could help as well. But I like the core loop. It was tense hoping I could run into an orb in time. Maybe adding some extra hints where the orbs are could help too so the player isn't just picking a direction and hoping for the best?

Great job! And ty again for responding! Sorry I got back to it so late but at least I made it before the deadline! :D

You should definitely flesh this one out! Can definitely see some awesome puzzles down the road if you do! I think the controls need some tweaking. Main character felt a little too slow (maybe, he is a skeleton though so they can only go so fast haha) and the 3d camera needs some extra polish. But yeah, super cool base idea here! Definitely interested in playing more if you ever go further with this!

Love the idea here! I enjoyed lighting up the level and it was very exciting when I heard that sheep noise and started tracking them down. I think a tutorial could definitely help b/c the learning curve is pretty steep. Definitely think you could expand on this if you wanted to! Maybe add a few more mechanics. Maybe we could have like 3 (or whatever number makes sense for the level)  permanent torches we could place down or something like that to help us keep our bearings but at the same time, not be able to light the whole level

Great job :D

Your son's pixel art is awesome and he should keep it up! Hopefully you guys will have enough time to avoid the AI art next time. Thanks for being honest and forward about it though! I think you have a good base for a full game here. The only big change I can think of would be maybe having a better way to identify the culprit w/o having to rely on the hints? Or some mechanic where you can only choose 1 hint and you have to make the right decision based on the suspects and then choose the culprit based on choosing the right hint. I hope that makes sense!

Hope you and your son had a blast and tell him to keep up that pixel art :D

Really cool idea! I read your devlog on the graphics change and think that's a great idea (not that what you currently have is bad, but I do agree your changes will fit your game better). My only complaint is the one hit gongs show everything a little quickly and I had to restart to find stuff again b/c I didn't quite have enough time to memorize it (specifically on level 3 is what I'm thinking of).

I'll definitely check back to see the changes you make! :D

Very cool game and idea! I can definitely see this being expanded on! I think hitboxes could be bit smaller for the player and also wasn't sure what purpose spinning my character around w/ the mouse had. Other than those two suggestions, I got nothing! This was super fun and I enjoyed clearing all 4 levels! The color shifting made for some tense moments, especially on the final level! Great job! :D

Fun game! Very rage inducing indeed! Ty for the gamepad support! Very helpful b/c itch's site kept making the aiming weird w/ my mouse! Really love the graphics too! The main character is very endearing!

Super cool! Very creepy atmosphere! I love the look of the monsters and the pill mechanic. The visuals all around are super nice. Very cool little game and awesome interpretation of the theme! :D

I love this game! The controls are super weird but in a good way! I wasn't able to finish it yet, but I plan to come back post jam so I can try to master this one! The atmosphere is also fantastic. I love that you took a risk w/ the controls and stuck to it. Really cool and made the game stand out! Great job :D

Very cool game! Even though I read backtracking was necessary, I was still surprised to find extra colors when I went back through the levels. That was a super cool idea! I loved the animations and the music too. Very chill song. Great concept and could definitely see expanding this w/ more worlds and levels.

The UI elements were also not scaled properly for me if I didn't use fullscreen (no big deal b/c I did use fullscreen, but just wanted you to be aware in case you do anything else w/ this)

The only flag I was missing was the blue flag in level 3. I couldn't quit figure that one out. What's the solution to that one?

Loved this game!! Fantastic job! You should absolutely make more levels post jam! Music is great, art is great, core idea is great . Well done all around! :D

Very fun! I really enjoyed the music here! Catchy song while inspecting the shirts! I feel like you could easily expand on this by having more stuff you have to look for as you climb higher levels. I wish there was maybe some extra deception we needed to lookout for w/ the serial number too.

Great job on this one! Had fun getting in a flow and meeting the quotas! Very enjoyable loop!

This was fun! Really liked the art and the main concept was super cool. It was fun trying to solve all the puzzles and figure out what was real and what wasn't. Fit the theme really well. I felt very satisfied shooting the mimic in the last room.

I must confess, I found the final treasure by walking around the room spamming the interact button. If you expand on this game further, I wonder if something could be done to prevent that tactic from working. Not sure what though, and also not even sure if that's a problem (b/c I had fun regardless and thought it was funny finding the treasure like that haha!)

I also encountered the bug borot described (with the initial window being super zoomed in) and had to zoom my browser in to get the game to display. Figured I'd let you know. Maybe activating itch's fullscreen button for the game could help w/ that. I occasionally get a similar bug when I'm testing godot builds on mac for some reason, and normally have to solve it by going in and out of fullscreen for some reason.

Great job on this game! Super cool idea and execution!

Thank you so much! That is some high praise!! Happy to know you loved our game as much as we loved yours!!

We'd love to expand this game into a full RPG someday! Kinda started falling in love w/ the world as we were making it haha!

I see what you mean about making the connection stronger. Especially for the knight. Poor guy is getting killed by so much stuff if he doesn't have a shield XD As for the colors, I'm messing around w/ a mechanic now to have a chance for each enemy to spawn w/ a different color once you get to a certain kill threshold (so knights could spawn in red and blue instead of just grey for example). Hoping that might add another layer to the not trusting your eyes theme.

Thank you again for the feedback and taking time to play! Really appreciate it!!

I couldn't figure out how to finish once I had placed the papers on the bombs in the first level. I'd love for you tell me how (assuming I can finish and there are more levels b/c I'd love to play more)

I really like the core idea here! I feel it fits the them well. I also liked the song and having to guess if it was bread or a dog lol! I could definitely see this working if you flesh it out. Could also maybe have a time factor to it as the levels progress or something too. Funny dialogue as well

But yeah, please let me know how to go to the next level so I can play some more! Thanks!

Fun idea! I liked the trickiness of it w/ the sound and positions changing. Not sure if the last several levels were all supposed to be the same, but I feel like the last 2-3 levels were the same pattern.

I could see an "endless" type mode working here where it just keeps giving you a longer continuing pattern (like that simon toy from back in the day) but also maybe changes up the locations and colors as you go along to make it harder to keep up with.

Very cool atmosphere! I liked the creepy vibes and the text font/display was cool. The finger pointing at me was also creepy for some reason haha! Enjoyed it!

Is there a good ending? I got bad ending and neutral ending, but couldn't find a combo to get higher than neutral

I really enjoyed this one! I made it to the end of level 4 and had the big mushroom spawn but interacting w/ it didn't do anything. Is that a bug or was I missing something?

Either way, loved the concept and the jankiness of it was very charming. Also, the tank style controls were very nostalgic. If you expand on it anymore, I think an option to turn off the head wobble would be nice b/c it was a little much at times (not a huge deal though)

Great work on this one!

Thanks so much for the kind words! Flattered to have inspired you for the next jam! My wife did most of the page and all of the lore and was super happy reading this comment haha! Glad you enjoyed the game itself and appreciate the feedback on the options to have it be standalone or expanded on! Glad you liked the game b/c we loved yours too!

Great game! Really cool putting the scores of the dev team! Was fun trying to beat those! Ya'll did a great job polishing up a simple idea! I'm also glad I read about the hard mode in another comment here b/c that was even more fun! And I had never heard of the stroop effect, so it was cool learning about that too!

Definitely see myself coming back to this one to try to get better scores!

Thank you! It's unfortunate that even when you're a giant eyeball monster, you still can't trust your eyes haha!

Fantastic game! Loved it! Great idea, REALLY cool aesthetics in each world, and all the different weapons were awesome! Definitely could see myself coming back to play this one post jam! I loved everything about this game! Amazing job!

Great idea! I'll echo what others have said here, but I think if you changed the ghost hit boxes and made it so you can release 1 ghost at a time (or some other way to get rid of unwanted ghosts while waiting for the right one, b/c as it is you kinda have to capture them or you'll get hit), it would increase the fun by a ton and be a super strong loop!

Enjoyed playing!

The humor was funny and your cover image is fantastic! I wasn't 100% what the cues were to look for to tell if the person was a girl or not. I also think replayability could be helped if the correct answers to the girls changed each run too. The ending screens were also very funny haha! Enjoyed playing!

I managed to get to the portal! I think I figured out the big asteroid pattern (you have to pass directly through it). I thought I had the small asteroid down by being super far away from it, but sometimes that seemed to not work. I thought maybe it involved movement? Couldn't quite figure that one out. The medium asteroid, was it something to do with passing close to it but not through it? I'm curious what the right answers are though!

Overall, I feel a few small changes could help this game be really fun!
1) Visuals: Personally, I liked the visuals (I enjoy the pic8 aesthetic a lot). I think if you added some scrolling on the stars in the background, and some animation on the portal, it could help everything pop! I haven't done any pico8 yet, so not sure how difficult those 2 things are in that environment, but in my head they don't seem too bad and I think it would help elevate everything visually :D
2) Gameplay loop: So correct me if I'm wrong, but the main gameplay loop seems to be about maneuvering your ship through 3 basic patterns/obstacles and the complexity is initially in figuring the patterns out but "endgame" would be having to resolve the patterns being stacked w/ each other or in following closely behind each other. Assuming that's correct, I think that figuring the patterns out could use a little more guidance in the game somehow. Maybe like a tutorial level per asteroid where you have to try to pass one asteroid of each type, one at a time and you get 100% confirmation that you solved the pattern correctly.
After that, you could have levels that get harder (or if you want to spawn rng asteroids, the levels could just get longer or have more asteroids possible to spawn or something). Because I do feel the core loop itself is a good idea once the patterns are discovered!

Another possible idea would be maybe the sensors are broken still, but they sporadically ping to reveal a little of the real pattern, but you have no control over when it pings or how much is revealed, so after a while you'd get the pattern down that way? Not sure, just spitballing ideas!

Overall, I do think the core idea is good though and totally understand running out of time w/ it being your first pico8 game. Impressive to have produced this much in 3 days! Hopefully this feedback is helpful and not just rambling nonsense haha XD

Fun game! I can't believe it took me so long to figure out where the 26 and the F were haha! And I love the creepy pasta vibes once you figure that out. I also laughed at the first super fast bar just b/c it was so much faster than everything else. Great dialogue overall too!

Thanks for the tips! I'll go back and see if I can improve my score some more!

Great game! The art is fantastic! Very charming! Can't wait to hear what you come up w/ for music! I enjoyed the tight timer on the last level personally. made it tough to get the trophy in a good way imo! Like others have said, my only suggestion is making the graveyard world have some use case. I like all the suggestions for what that could be that have already been mentioned in the other comments.

Great job overall! Loved playing through it!

Hilarious game! Loved it! The screen w/ the little stick figure testing the chair reminded me of the menus from like wii shop channel or something. And you built up such a surprising amount of suspense too. I felt so bad when I killed the little guy b/c I got the chair wrong haha! Fantastic job!

Really cool idea! Loved the probing and swapping mechanic. And all the shaders made the game feel really polished! My only two suggestions would be background music and somewhere you can click if you need to remember what hands beat what (not super hard to remember but people less familiar w/ poker hands could find it useful maybe).

I also really liked your tutorial. I thought it did an excellent job telling me how to play the game! Great job with this one. super cool idea!

Really liked this one! Definitely fits the jam theme! I enjoyed the beacons and the hidden platforms. Well thought out mechanic.

For the challenge mode, was there an ending to it or do you just keep going for as long as you want? I wasn't sure what the goal was (but was having fun bouncing around platforms and learning the little hints as to how they were laid out regardless).

Also, for the speedrun mode (which I really enjoyed), it seemed like there were far less moving platforms and it made it so I felt pretty confident just jumping w/o the beacon mechanic being used. Perhaps more moving platforms would force more beacon use in speedrun mode?

Overall had a great time with this one! Well done! And music was awesome!

I love this game! Graphics were really nice and I really like how i had to remember where the hidden objects were b/c I couldn't revel them and aim the ball at the same time. The curve-ball and jump were nice additions to keep it feeling fresh as the levels went on.

The only control related complaints I had (and maybe I was missing something on this, so these could just be my mistakes) were 1) I wish I could cancel my shot once I clicked on the ball and 2) It was sometimes hard to get max power on the ball when I got stuck in the corner. Neither of these were a huge deal though to be clear. More qol stuff than anything.

Really enjoyed this game! Great job!

I really liked how much this game trolls the player haha! I love how there's some spots you just can't walk forward even though there's nothing there, but you can still jump for some reason. I love how  tiny one of the platforms is on the way to the orb. Stuff like that. I feel like it fit the theme very well b/c I never knew what to believe. It was fun exploring around trying to find my path to orb.

Since you showed me my time at the end, I also felt compelled to lower it since I knew the  correct path to the orb at that point. Nice job! Enjoyed it!

Super fun! I think my only issue is I never quite found a good tactic to get the shy ones reliably. One of your other responses saying the the blackout aliens move 2x speed for the rest of the round helped me with those. I enjoyed looking for the subtle differences and as the infiltration bar got closer to end, I could definitely feel the tension rising!

Also, I feel like Captain Picard was looking at me disapprovingly each time I killed an alien for the sole reason of them being an alien haha

So happy you enjoyed it! We really tried to lean into the tiny game aspect! Glad we made it work!

And you're right, the time does decrease as you get more kills (starts at 10 seconds, goes down to 5 seconds). Definitely thinking about moving it down even further after the jam, but didn't want to push it down too far w/o enough testing so stuck to 5 seconds given the small time window. I really like the idea of earning a heart through fast attacking! I'll mess around with that when I get some time and see how it feels.

Thanks so much for the feedback and taking time to play! Really appreciate it!

Ran into the same issue others were describing where the enemies stopped spawning, but definitely loved what I played! You should definitely expand on this! The granny is hilarious and the combo animations were great! I agree w/ one of the other comments about the granny vision being pretty arbitrary. I think having more reason to use it during the game would be cool
