i play it with proton, works fine but remember that you need to manually move the saves between versions if you want to use the mailbox tokeep your stuff

im gonna have to say a more abstract one, a distant door opening.
all the things happening nearby that startle someone like footsteps around you will spook you in the moment but then you turn around and can confirm nothings around you and it was a spook. the game also kinda likes doing things like that with noises around you that dont mean anything so footsteps would spook you but you kinda have context for them not meaning anything.
the game might open a door near you sometimes, but it never arbitrarily has a distant one open. when you hear that you know something opened it, and it wasnt you, and it probably wasnt nothing since the game doesnt do that distantly. youll know somethings here but you wont know what.
i just picked the game up so i figure i should give feedback now from the perspective of a new person, i played till day 4 on 8.2 then nabbed the new version right before it came out.
i suppose the most usefull feedback is the coordinate towers are just bad all around. im on day 14 now and ive gotten used to everything else, but all the time untill i could disable the coordinate towers was frustration. i wasnt engaging with the game in any productive way, i was just frustrated endlessly since they never stop going down and the only way to mitigate it temporarily feels bad to engage with.
the rest of the game is mostly busywork, but it can grow on you if its given the space to. i actually liked cleaning the base, gathering all the trash and scrubbing the walls. i probably should have started farming earlier, i didnt realize how good potatos and pumpkins were and theres no kitchen knife, so 50 points is a pretty big ask at the start. but the reason i was doing that as a primary thing was that i gave up on bothering with signals entirely since the coordinate towers were too frustrating to deal with. once i was able to disable the coordinate towers, the game finally opened up, i started finding signals and getting on top of transformers and servers, i actually started enjoying the game, investigating spooky things sometimes and more often running scared from them rather than just feeling like everything was an imposition on the endless grind of trying to get everything running long enough to get a single signal from detection to the drone.
coordinate towers aside, i think ive had a good experience with the rest of the new stuff, though the atv battery is kinda annoying and its baffling that you could get an atv without an alternator somehow, that feels like it needs another pass since if you dont have the money to get another battery or the battery charger your kinda screwed.
also the rake could do with having its price lowered and maybe a kitchen knife in the base somewhere, the big difference between it and the shovel is not making the game into a huge mess and its not obvious to a new player that you *need* to be farming. the food tiredness mechanic is really aggressive and you get tired of the mres super fast, but once you got some potatos you can make a go of it.
things like that are the big barrier to a new player, theres a ton of things you need to find out to make the game enjoyable and give you room to discover new things, but there isnt really a good ingame way to do that thanks to how much pressure is on you from day one. at least a shovel and a kitchen knife should be around the base
oh yeah that was hilarious, i had a moment on stream where kell fell down from hunger and bashed their head on the counter, dropped their glasses, looked at a cracker pack and firmly declared "i dont want to eat that" before passing out again. thankfully there were cockroaches all over the floor and they were perfectly willing to gobble them like cheetos. in the end your best bet for the cracker packs might be to drop all them into a pile on the floor and let them attract cockroaches, you never get tired of eating them raw
once you turn off coordinate tower decay the game can finally open up and become fun. its still alot of busywork but its pretty satisfying without the coordinate tower and fuse crafting and such, you just gotta get to day 8 i think. untill then its probably better to just worry about getting server hashes and the morning tapes, signals take too much
the coordinate towers are kindof an outlier in how aweful they are, and i had the same experience. what i did was just do all the other busywork like fussing with cleaning and doing hashes instead of bothering with signals untill day 8 when i could turn their degredation off. they never got better, i had one break down, then break again once i got a single signal, then break again in the time it took me to drive back from fixing it. they will kill your experience
i had a tower go down by day three, went out to fix it on stream, found out that annoying bug where it doesnt correctly report wether a coordinate tower is down or not but two went down at once anyway. once i had fixed it i came back and repaired some transformers then the next day got everything ready to grab a signal and number two had gone down again by the time i got one signal. i went out to repair it and *by the time i got back it had already gone down again.* fuck the coordinate towers man, im turning them off the moment i hit day seven. not even gonna bother trying to get signals till that unlocks, this is bullshit
the problem is that i got a quest to rescue a noble lady, and despite being right outside her castle, her guards wont let me in since they say im a criminal, there really needs to be some way for her to notice this fact since the quest is functionally completed but i cant actually get her to get her ass in the castle
