Hey everyone! I’m working on a horror-themed visual novel currently titled The Forgotten Chatroom and looking for an artist to help bring the Y2K/retro internet aesthetic to life. This is a passion project, and I’m handling the writing and programming so you’d only need to focus on the art. Right now, the game is still in the planning stages, and I’m hoping to release it later this year. I’m handling the writing and programming but I’m looking for a 2D artist to help bring the retro internet visuals to life. I’ll make sure to credit you properly and keep you involved in the creative process.
What I’m Looking For:
Aesthetic: Late ‘90s/early 2000s internet UI—MSN, AIM, Geocities, forum aesthetics, with glitchy horror vibes. Some ideas of the assets
Needed: Chatbox UI, retro computer elements, eerie pixel/distorted character portraits.
Vibe: Nostalgic but unsettling—like an old chat room that’s still running when it shouldn’t be.
Game Details:
Genre: Sorta psychological horror, interactive fiction with branching choices.
Themes: Digital liminality, lost time, corrupted memories, and the horror of an online space that won’t let go.
For a better idea of the aesthetic I’m aiming for, check out my Pinterest inspo board: https://pin.it/2B7hITkJN
Since this is a free project, it’s great for someone who loves the aesthetic and wants to build their portfolio or collaborate for fun. If you’re interested, drop your portfolio or DM me on discord: .nyx3
Hey there, I’m working on a Y2K-inspired horror visual novel currently titled The Forgotten Chatroom. This is a passion project inspired by early internet aesthetics, digital horror, and the eerie loneliness of an abandoned chatroom. Right now, the game is still in the planning stages. My goal is to release it later this year as a free indie project. I’m handling the writing and programming but I’d love to collaborate with you to help build the unsettling, glitchy, lo-fi atmosphere the game needs.
If you’re into retro horror, corrupted internet vibes, and eerie sound design, I’d love to chat! I’d be happy to credit you properly and share the journey.
