I have great news: Update v0.3.1 is now live, and it directly addresses the issues you encountered!

• Pacing & "The Drag": I completely reworked the upgrade cost scaling. Previously, costs would skyrocket by 10x in the late game, creating that massive wall you felt. Now, the curve is much smoother (scaling by ~1.8x early on and ~2.5x later), making progression feel consistent and rewarding without the endless wait.
• Save System Fix: I'm so sorry you lost your progress. You were right; going back to the menu should have saved the game, but on WebGL, it can be tricky. To fix this permanently, I’ve implemented a new Auto-Save system that saves your progress every 30 seconds. Your factory should be safe now.

I hope these changes solve the issues you faced. I'd love for you to give it another shot!
