Yeah, I mentioned it in the itch.io category description. I'm not really a game dev. I'am more a tabletop rpg gamemaster who had written a gamebook, and this project happened because I wanted to turn it into an interactive experience.

I worked with a French illustrator for the UI and the map: Misty Beee maps - Fantasy cartography

But yeah, the black and white character images are AI-generated. AI is kinda shit for that honestly. I want to remove them and replace them with proper illustrations, but hiring an artist for dozens of images is expensive. I asked a friend to help me with that, so hopefully I'll be able to replace them over time.

Where I messed up is that I asked people to send me DMs thinking it was possible, and it seems like that doesn’t exist here. If you have Google Play and want to test the game, you can email me at

dynasty.of.sword (at) gmail (dot) com

with the email linked to your Google Play account, and I’ll add you to the tester list so you can download the game.

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some help testing my passion project, Dynasty of the Sword. It's a classic-style digital gamebook for Android, inspired by the likes of Lone Wolf and other great CYOA books.

The Project:

It's amateur project. This game has been a 20-year journey. It started as a tabletop RPG campaign with friends and has slowly evolved into a solo adventure. I'm just an amateur, not a professional developer (I have a day job!), but I've been learning and building this in my spare time using Unity. I had some help from a more experienced developer to get the Android build working, and now it's finally ready for others to see.

The game is now fully playable from start to finish.

Engine: Unity

Scope: Roughly 1750 paragraphs, multiple long-term story branches, and 5 distinct endings.

Features: A mix of narrative exploration with inventory management, a quest journal, faction reputation, an interactive map, and a simple but tactical combat system.

Art: Features around 200 black-and-white, old-school illustrations (AI-assisted) and a beautiful world map and UI designed by the French illustrator Misty Beee.

Model: This is a passion project. It will be released free, with no ads, monetization, or data collection.

I've been working on this in a bubble for so long that I desperately need fresh eyes from people who know and love this genre. I'd be incredibly grateful for any feedback to help me polish the game for its final release.

I'm looking for your honest thoughts on things like:

Bugs, crashes, and typos.

Pacing, story flow, and clarity of choices.

Combat balance and general feel.

Your overall impressions and any suggestions you might have.

How to get the Beta:

If you have an Android device and would like to give it a try, please send me a DM here on itch.io with the email address you use for Google Play. I'll only use your email to send the beta invite via Google Play and will not store it or use it for anything else.

Thanks so much for reading this!
