Although the star eater plays the role of the villain in the story, I don’t think he’s a bad guy at heart, just as you said. Just as the enemy characters helped out in the final stage of the Plus version, he might have been offering some kind of support as well. All the characters in the book really like Sepia.
Sorry for the late reply. If you saw the rabbit ending then you have completed all stages. The total number of normal stages and the rabbit marked stages should be 21 levels.
