Wonderful. Thanks for playing and making a video. I love watching people play the stuff I make.
Nice photos >:)
This rules. It's essentially perfect aesthetically, and the writing really adds to the experience. Impressive work on the monster, too! It really can't be overstated how cool it is to be genuinely frightened of a depiction of Frankenstein's monster in 2023 (and then moments later you get to watch him bust out the freshest moves). Very impressive
Pretty fun! The 2.5D style with high-def assets gives this an interesting look. Good weapon variety, and I liked that ammo wasn't super plentiful - it added some extra tension when I had to switch to melee to finish off the final few enemies. A few extra sound FX to indicate damage being done/taken would've really added to the experience, but I liked what I played.
Lol. Yeah, without the title in mind I'd imagine the twist is pretty confusing. I went back-and-forth on how much info to give players, and where I ended up was maybe a little *too* minimal. I'm glad the joke eventually landed.
Thanks for the feedback and for featuring my game in your video! I plan to expand on this game once the jam is over and watching your playthrough has already given me a couple ideas for improvements.
Man, this is such nice feedback. Thank you. I've never made anything like this before, so it's really cool to hear that someone enjoyed it so much.
When I started making this, I figured it would be a one-off learning exercise, but I ended up really enjoying the process. I don't want to make any promises, but you just might see an expanded version or a sequel in the next few months.
Once again, thank you!
This is seriously great. I really enjoyed the writing. Great dark humor, delightfully unsettling, and the perfect amount of mystery. The exploration was fun. It was a little too easy to get lost, but maybe that's the intended experience.
Loved it, overall. I can't wait to check out whatever stuff you're going to add to it.
Thanks! Yeah, it's mostly AI art. The title screen and beginning images (the first scene, the train tracks, and the park) are from https://alte.itch.io/suburban-photos , those seem to be actual photos that are just put through a filter. Every other image was AI generated using craiyon. I tried to deliberately choose wonky looking stuff, both for the atmosphere and so that it was more clear that it was AI art.
