Thanks for the nice words and feedback! I can definitely see how the first few runs could be confusing. I think i just got used to it through the countless runs I did while testing. I did try to have turning allowed while not moving, but it felt a little slippery so I tied it to movement speed (which also makes dashing feel better). If I do more work on this, ill probably add a minimum turn speed.

Thanks again!

Thanks! Yeah, I remember my first time playing a game with “tank controls” was a bit confusing, but I’ve grown to like how it works. If I expand this game in the future, I’d love to add a deeper tutorial to make sure learning the controls is easier!

Thanks for the feedback!

This was a very fun game! I love how much character it has and it’s very simple to get into. I actually wish there were more levels, I was really starting to get into it! the few available were pretty fun, and I think there are so many different ways you can expand this game!

Amazing work!

This is a very unique idea for a platformer! I haven’t played a game where there’s such a big focus on juggling objects while platforming, so it was very novel! The only thing that was weird for me was the system for hitting the trash. I think it makes a lot of sense, and gives you a lot of control, but I think hitting the trash to the right is a lot harder than hitting it to the left since the pointer always moves clockwise. I think something to look into would be having both the left and right hitting directions move from the bottom to the top so it’s easier to keep juggling the trash.

Overall, this was a very fun experience! Good job!

Great entry! I really liked the custom story art, and I think the custom farmer sprites fit in pretty well with the rest of the pack. It was a short, but enjoyable experience! The sound that plays when the farmers spot you definitely makes you feel the tension.

The only minor issue I felt was that the farmers catch radius seems a bit too large. It seems like they catch you way before they actually touch you. Maybe quicker farmers with a lower catch radius could be something to try. Other than that, I think this is a charming game!

Great Job!

This is a great entry! I love how much character the game has, and I think you have a really nice project going, with a lot of space to expand. Although I did get a bit confused on how to stop being hungry (my fault, I forgot ‘f’ was to eat), the mechanics were pretty straightforward and clear. I think the biggest odd point for me were the controls, but after a while you get used to them. With the isometric perspective, I’m not sure what a better scheme would be, so it might just be a learning curve for new players.

Great Job!

You should be able to launch the exe. I know that unity builds normally come with a few files and folders, but I packed them all together using WinRAR to make it more convenient. Unless there is something strange happening on your system, it should run fine. Might just take a second.

As stated in the Rules at the bottom of the page:

  • No limitations on:
    • Visual style
    • Use of audio
    • Engine/library/framework, programming language, and other tools

I also use Unity :D

As stated in the Overview, you don't have to use the theme in your game. However, it is 1/5 of your points, so you might want to use it.

I was wondering what limitations there were on what fonts you can use. Is it just a certain few, or can you use any font as long as it clearly represents the ASCII fonts/characters?
