Hey everyone!

I’ve just released the demo for Kingfall, my chess-inspired deckbuilder, and this is my first time sharing a game on itch.io :)

About a year ago, I was hooked on Inscryption while also playing a lot of chess with my son. We started wondering: what if the cards in a deckbuilder could move and attack like chess pieces?

We spent the next few days building a paper version together. Over the past year, that little experiment turned into Kingfall, with lots of prototypes and countless hours of testing along the way.

In Kingfall, you build your deck and battle on a larger chess-inspired board. Your cards move and attack like chess pieces, so where you place them matters just as much as which cards you play. The goal is to take down the enemy king while protecting your own.

You can try the free demo here:

I’d love to hear how your first few battles go! Do the movement and attacks make sense? Does combining chess with deckbuilding feel fun? If something feels confusing or frustrating, I’d really like to hear about that too.

Thanks for taking a look at our little project! Happy to answer any questions :)
