While I agree the controls at first seemed awkward--they are different than the regular auto-shoot, mouse aim and Archero's annoying "stop to shoot" system-- but after a couple months of playing ET Returns I've found the current control scheme provides unique fun and challenge of its own! Yes: rhythm, timing and skill are definitely required to a much greater extent than those other control schemes. If I changed anything I'd make other control modes selectable in an options screen-- but create a points system that gives LESS points for kills using the easier auto-aim/mouse-aim and MORE points for Archero or the current aiming system. Either way, much respect to therealmattkain for creating a uniquely fun game just as it is! :)

Super dig this game. Bullet heaven at its core, yes a tad difficult, but a fun challenge. Crucial to survival on my better runs: obtaining and upgrading specifically the Attack Boost and Spread Shot powerups, which means priority targeting the tan-jacketed Agents for their pink Phone drops. Regardless of the other Phone Abilities taken, those two seem most critical.
Also I enjoy the skill involved in scrambling to shoot the weakest enemies, collect powerups and beef myself up before even stronger mobs start appearing. Gotta be quick about it, and avoid Q-Berts with their high HP early on.
Lastly, I appreciate the history and nostalgia of all the great (and crappy) Atari stars and easter eggs of the 2600 era, and enjoy STILL playing "Name That Game Character" with some of the enemies encountered. Would totally love to see other achievements and goals added, such as kill X-amount of Q-Berts, Pac Mans, etc... Great job!
Dig it... the graphics, the gameplay, the frenetic pace of the music that speeds up with the passing of each wave.
Would be great to see a couple things: when Elite (bigger) Wolves die, make them explode into a star of light that briefly illuminates the whole screen?
Also, again dig the music, but can you please add separate volume control for sound/music? That would be SUPER great. The music tends to blast over the game's sounds (as well as any content running simultaneously in browser windows, such as youtube, movies or news). Thanks!
Good basics here. Love the general feel and flow of the game.
Couple notes: Laser cooldown seems way too long; makes that weapon useless at low levels. And upgrading it never seemed to improve cooldown.
Looking forward to improvements you've already mentioned. It will be fun to see achievement system, more weapons, upgrade shop, et cetera. Keep up the good work!
If the original Dev has quit, can someone take over development? This has good basics. I really liked the general feel of the game, happy destruction while chasing around little hand icons for experience & health. And love how the icons changed to show the better/higher XP that's WORTH the chase.
Yes this would be great with sound, floor textures, bonus chests, longer time, more weapons, with a longer and a more dramatic boss battle.
Oh, and some kind of visual representation when Hero takes damage. Small screen shake, character icon flashes, stars appear, et cetera.
Regarding the Boss: of the three times I reached him, he killed me twice within 3 or 4 seconds, before I hardly had time to recognize it even WAS the boss battle. The one win took a total of only 6 or 7 seconds. I had the cross laser & AT Circle weapons, 25% Damage Boost, HP/Healing all maxed in the win. The boss rushed me, sat on my icon, two or three resurrections later within that short seven second span-- my weapons prevailed.
And we would like more than a gold thumbs up for the anticlimactic end screen please? Thanks in advance if Dev or other party continues adding to this game. Once again great job on some of the basics.
