This game is a hidden gem. When I first played it during the game jam review period I thought, "huh, this is actually pretty awesome." Playing it again now, along with the new changes, I can confidently say this should have won the game jam. It's by far my favorite submission. You have no idea how confused and disappointed I am that this scored so poorly. Like, WHYYY!!

Thus, I'm here to make a thread discussing the parts I found good or bad.

Good:
  • Pretty simple and intuitive. Easy to learn even without instructions.
  • Embraces the chaos of multitasking and forces you to PAY ATTENTION. You have to juggle so many things at once, I love it
    • Switching between making and delivering pizzas
    • Being careful not to jaywalk
    • Dodging and shooting enemies
    • Keeping track of delivery direction
    • Remembering what pizza to make (this messed me up a LOT, just because I stopped paying attention for a few seconds)
    • Watching temperature gauge and taking risks based on time left
    • and other things
  • Kinda building off on the previous point, but there are just so many intricacies that I have to admire. When I first played, I didn't even realize breaking windows and jaywalking caused the crime meter to fill!
  • Incredibly polished, nice cartoon-y artstyle and fun music.
  • Great attention to detail like the "IT WAS PEPPERONI!" warning and glass shattering.
  • Fun movement, sliding, jumping and shooting feels smooth

Bad:
  • Sometimes I got a bug where it said "IT WAS [PIZZA]!" even though I didn't click Done yet. It just immediately appears when entering the pizza restaraunt.
  • Can't tell what floor of office to go to I didn't notice it says the floor number, so that one is on me.
  • Gameplay loop gets boring after a while. Once you get the hang of it,it becomes too easy and you do the same thing until you inevitably lose. The game could use a difficulty increase in some way. Maybe it moves to a new level/city with different buildings. Or it starts spawning traps and debuffs and powerups that change gameplay.
  • Enemies don't do much. You're usually fast enough to run past them, and sometimes they hit you if unlucky. It would be cool if they blocked your path and you either have to shoot or jump over them (and they can take several hits, so you have to decide if you wanna risk it and jump past them, if low on time).
  • No ending screen. I wish I could see how much money I made, and other stats too. I think I got a few hundred dollars? But I'm not sure.

Conclusion

Overall this is a really solid game! I'm super impressed you made this in 3 days and wish it could've won the game jam (yes, it's even better than my submission). Even if you won't touch this game anymore, I hope you can keep my tips in mind for your next projects.

Well done!

Game page looks phenomenal, the style is powerful. Sadly the gameplay is extremely barebones (holding W and slowly moving towards beacons gets boring fast). Plus, "deliver packages to locations" takes the theme at a face value without any interesting twists.

Still, the visuals are amazing. With a proper storyline and characters, this game could get very far

This game fits the theme well, and feels very polished, though the gameplay is extremely lacking. Can't blame you cause you didnt have much time

The setting was pretty interesting though it could be polished. Other things like lag and minimap was annoying. For some reason, the minimap marker doesnt properly update your direction (which confused me a lot)

Glad you found the shooting fun!

But you're right, it can get boring and repetitive for the long range targets. The point was to test different angles and increment each shot little by little, however it wasn't implemented as well as I hoped. If we had more time, we would have definitely focused on making the game more intuitive.

It's a platformer, so of course it's pretty fun. The game was easy to understand,  and it didn't take too long to beat. And I also appreciate the Linux build.

My main gripe was the "blind jumps," or those hidden traps that you cannot see until you hit them. They felt annoying. Especially the falling stones in the last level that serve no purpose other than to slow you down. Speaking of which, I wasn't sure if I was supposed to see a black screen at the end?

Second, the delivery mechanic with the box seems unnecessary. The game requires you to go back to the checkpoint if you take any damage. Then why not just respawn/teleport me to the checkpoint? There's no point in keeping me alive if I need to go back anyways.

Lastly, I wish this game had a little more semblance to the theme. Aside from the box mechanic I talked about, and the truck sprite ,the entire game is no different from any other platformer. Granted, this game jam was super short and it would've been hard to add so much in the short timeframe. But I would rather have a shorter, simpler game that is unique and thematic.

How do I exit this game

thanks gangalicious i hope we can all cook
