Hey Heres some advice Ill give for the game! I think sound design, animation and game feel is really good no need to talk about that. Though ill talk about some gameplay issues i had.

The lock on for the bomb is a bit janky and a lot of the time you cant get the direction you exactly want.  ( as i was writing this i just realized my mouse was very close to the character, maybe just show the mouse so that you can more easily rotate the bomb).

Also i feel like i just spam attacked most enemies and got away with it for the most part. The bombs also seem not that useful in combat and more just for fast traversal, maybe make enemy types that are required to be hit by bombs instead of your basic attack or ones that do large aoe attacks that you can only dodge using your bombs.

Also you can skip one of the enemy encounters by just quickly bombing over the area. (though i suppose its good for speedrunning)

otherwise i think this game has a lot of potential to be a fun speedrunning/ combat oriented game.

Ohhhh, i think you missed the idea that your supposed to spam the gun and use it as a machine gun or shotgun of sorts. Yes it is not very good at aiming, but at close range you can shoot many close range quick bullets to get rid of the lack of control. Maybe it was the mistake of the tutorial for not teaching the idea well enough.

For healing I definitely understand that, I havent really found a way to stop the ´heal orbs´ going into the wall. If more people complain about this healing mechanic, ill think about modyfing it to make it less punishing.

Thanks for the advice!

Hey thanks for the advice, can i just ask what you mean by juiced up actions? Like camera shake for shooting? or when your hacking the factory door, it actually gradually opens instead of disseapearing instantly? Just let me know, thanks.

Hey thanks for the advice. For the level design what rooms specifically did you find a problem with, Is it the two sections with the conveyor belts? Or before that as well?

also for the healing would you say it feels clunky only during a fight or also when your not in a fight?

Its a pretty fun game that does feel like your exploring unique areas with a really nice visual style and music.

I do think however the game could use some sound effects. its interesting that only the dash has a sound effect and no other action does like jump or collecting a recon point. Also the purple mushroom area is a little slow, maybe add less hidden paths (but still keep them cause there still interesting, you could even give the hidden tiles evaporating a sound effect to create like a chain reaction of sound effects).

Also the game doesnt really seem to care if you collect one or multiple recon points, you can leave the area all the same. Maybe just add some reward system for collecting more? (though it makes sense if its a game jam and you ran out of time to add something).

Finally, maybe make it so you can talk to some npcs more than once. Cause there was this one guy in the mushroom village that said something about his son that i skipped by accident and then couldnt go back to talking to him.

Overall game does have potential, i think the style is quite compact and colorful, just make sure to polish.

I really like the ascii art style and music, and I think it feels very satisfying to play when your putting in inputs and such.

However I do think the combat could be improved a little. for one fights are very slow as theres a little delay between moves and such, i know its for the retro feel but especially when theres multiple enemies its very annoying to wait for all of them to move. maybe just add an option to speed the fight up. (though maybe there is and i didnt notice).

Also the enemies are all exactly the same. Maybe give them some special abilities within the grid? Like maybe the matriarch leaves behind a cobweb that traps the play if they walk on it or something like that. IK its quite hard to make the grid based movement interesting as its all turn based but i think it could be good as the combat is pretty simple right now, its  just walking to an enemy and just spamming 1.

But aside from that its quite fun to go exploring and this game has some potential. Also I got the sword from the quest but didnt equip it, died and then lost the item.

I would rate this game 3.5/5 and i played through stage 1 to 4. I think for positives it's visually very nice with good animations and music. However I think gameplay could be tweaked to be a bit more fun and varied.

Enemies for example are way too similar and just follow you, same with the bosses as well. Not every enemy has to be super unique but just give some enemies/bosses their own special attacks like shooting projectiles or charging at the player. That way theres some variation to how you move on the field rather than just looping around a big horde of enemies for the entire round. Ik vampire survivor games aren't supposed to be too complex but I think this could help with gameplay alot.

Also I dont know why the enemies just cant attack you when a boss spawns in. whether its intentional or not, it makes the boss really easy to fight.

I also got stuck in the first map here and couldnt get out:

And then i actually beat the stage by just staying in this place (why i think enemies not harming you after the boss is a really strange choice).

So overall the game is pretty good just work on varying the gameplay (maybe add some more upgrades as well) and this should be a pretty fun game. Cause i did think the game was a bit easy since i got up to stage 4 with no upgrades only using the base ninja.

Also please check out my game if you have the time thanks.

I might be dumb but is the story just an example of what you can do or is it neccesary?

Hey just played this game for the feedback quest. it was really fun with a lot of smart design choices. I like the mahjongg aspect to it almost having to be careful which cards to take as it could reveal two new cards the enemy could take. Though i did beat it on my first try. Also the upgrades seemed a bit crazy as i could just endlessly upgrade them near the middle half as there was not a lot of variety. Though i did just play the rogue and maybe there are different upgrades for other classes. good game. also i unlocked the monk

ah i was scared some people would get stuck on that, its meant to open the grey door next to you at the 2nd area.

Very fun game. I like how you have to constantly balance where you are in the battlefield. like its not good to barrier yourself at the very beginning as you will get cornered but you also have to constantly move due to the flying robots dropping bombs. great job!

Fun game with a lot of potential. though there are a lot of ui bugs. like when you win, the text stays on screen even after you go for another round. Also try adding some sound effects to the enemies, i know its hard when theres 1000 bullets on screen but atleast try to find some way to do it as the game feels quite empty when all you can hear are the players goofy footsteps. add some music maybe. Though gameplay wise its pretty good and i like the premise of having to switch into a new mecha all the time.

Hey so this is a pretty nice game, but the sensitivity is way too low. please add an option to change it. It makes it super hard to shoot the robot, also I feel like the robot enemy  itself is really cool but you have way too little health. Maybe give the player more health or add pickups around the map to give health. Though for a prototype its cool

hey i dont really know how to rank this as i havent really played these sorts of games but it's pretty interesting.  In terms of art its good but i think you could add some sound effects for selecting white text or just moving on, it could just give a bit more life. Also lore wise i dont understand why the void is using teenagers to put into mechs, does not seem really that logical i think adults would make more sense. Plus there was mention that they use neural links in the mechs so i feel generally adults have a higher mental power but maybe theres some lore reason why. good game!

good to know, i thought that the W key would be enough but maybe i would have to add A S D controls aswell for the robot

Also i think it would be nice if more enemies spawn at the 1 and 2 minute mark. it feels mostly empty for that time.

Fun game but was getting quite long so I stopped playing. Also theres a glitch with the buying that if multiple upgrades for example cost the same like 20 dollars. You can actually buy all of them if you have 20, and your money just goes into the negatives.

Simple but fun game with some interesting mechanics. However its probably good to add a tutorial for wall jumping in one of the levels, i thought one level was impossible the first time i played because i didnt know you could wall jump. Also some parts just killed you when you fell for some reason even though nothing was on the floor, i dont know if thats meant to be like fall damage but in general nice game! also some audio would help aswell.

Fun game with simple but well made mechanics. I will say though i though the levels were infinite since they were quite similar to eachother but i looked down in these comments and saw theres an ending, Overall though pretty fun.

Fun take on the idea of mecha. I really like the typing mechanic and the sort of turn based aspect to it. Though the one very buff robot i couldnt beat.  It kind of reminds me of iron lung, being trapped in something.

simple but well polished and fun game!

fair enough. loved your game though! how long did it take?

This is an amazing game though and definitely deserves some recognition!!

Listen this game is absolutely incredible for one person. Its probably the longest game in this jam so far and has been the most fun. The only thing i would say though is that is has nothing to do with the theme reverse. Sorry if that sounds too harsh but i just dont get the idea of reverse in this game.  Its like if you served a top quality pizza in a japanese restaurant. Not kidding i give 5 stars to everything in this game except for theme which gets a 2.

Game is nice though I feel the reversal mechanic could be explored a bit more. like maybe certain platforms appear when you reverse or maybe there are blocks when touched that reduce or increase time. Also level 3 and 7 are impossible to get 3 stars in. I like the star mechanic as it kind of pushes you to try faster though i wish the game told me resetting the level with 'r' actually keeps the time.

Hey this game is actually really fun but takes a bit of time to learn the controls. I know you might have not had too much time but a small tutorial explaining the controls would be nice (i know you say the controls in the description but usually its better to show them in game). Also i thought initally the timer was quite punishing but i think all the levels are actually pretty doable in 30 seconds. add some audio and music and this game would be very good

Harder than the other games but in a good way, I like how its quite puzzle based but also platforming based at the same time. good game!

I did want to add more mechanics, but i didnt want to make the game too long and im not the best at coding so it would be hard to do. but thanks for the advice!

Fun game, the character movement is a little clunky but the main mechanic of shooting is very fun to play around with. I also like how bullets push the bullet as well, meaning it can push you into enemies but also let you bounce off them to gain height.  For character movement just add coyote jump and it should feel much better.

Game is nice but there are a few issues. I feel the wall jump is a bit clunky and the camera sometimes cuts the player off so i have to walk into the cameras view but that was only on the level introducing the time mechanic. Visuals and audio are good though so i'd say this game is good in general.

Oh ok ill make sure to rerate it once youve updated the game

This is one of the best games so far i think. Its pretty fun.

fair enough. i think its just hard to jump normally when your folded even over a simple platform. But the games great otherwise.

visuals and audio are the highlight

This was a quite nice game though i have no clue how it relates to reverse. Also its pretty hard to hit enemies without also getting hit.

maybe a sound effect for reversing aswell

Neat game with good mechanics. Just add coyote jump to the player to make jumping feel smoother and some background music and i think this game is set.

This is a pretty fun game and the aesthetics feel very nice. I like the idea of unfolding though i don't understand why the wrapped up ball is so bad at doing anything. For me i felt like i only had to be unfolded for the whole game and never really needed to use the wrapped up form because its so weak. it also has a really weak jump too. I think the idea is nice but try to make both balls forms equally needed.
