Just started playing but I just wanted to give a short first impressions:
This game tingles the nostalgic bone, it reminds me a lot of old handheld console JRPGs, especially with the writing (Which is nicely translated!)
The Battle system so far is classic ATB, with all the flourishes of a customized RPG Maker engine. It's very satisfying, and I love the animations and dynamic camera.
If you're a sucker for old JRPGs, I definitely recommend!
P.S. I'll give a proper rating when I finish the game.
I just played the game for half an hour, here are some criticisms / bug reports:
GAME BREAKING bug: I used the character with red clothing and hat, the game crashes when a goblin mage does a debuff spell: ERROR: Failed to load: img/animations/StateDown1.png. My guess is you forgot to export the character's downed sprites.
Controls are a bit weird, why have WASD for movement but still ZX for interacting? I think sticking to default arrow keys or just changing the interact buttons to JK or something would be better.
Some NPCs you can't speak to, ex: the first ones you meet at the bar. (I know this isn't a bug, but consider adding more dialogue).
I noticed a 'Steel Tongue Ring' in the shop and had no idea what it does, a short item description would help.
Enemy encounters don't have battle backgrounds, RPG Maker has default ones and you use the default tileset already, just use those!
Here are a few things i did like:
Music is good.
Battles have an HP bar, it looks nice.
Character customization, you don't see that very often.
