I really enjoyed playing this game! Visually it looks very nice too!

The leaderboard was a fantastic addition, it really kept me hooked to try and get a better score! You have no idea how invested I got in snatching that third place from you, but alas, I'll have to take an L on this one.

Very well done!

Much appreciated! Thank you for playing!

I appreciate it! Thanks for playing!

Very lovely game! I don't have much experience with rhythm games, but the execution feels nice in this one!

I think it would've been cool if there was a restart button, instead of having to wait for the game to end once I missed enough to know I lost.

Other than gameplay, another nice addition would have been to be able to choose different animals within the game. I kept getting the frog back to back when restarting, which initially led me to think it was the only one.

A very good game nonetheless! Great work!

That's true, and I have messed around with their positions a bit. I still haven't found the one where it looks good visually, but I'll keep trying!

Oh boy, it's my arch nemesis...my memory...

The game, however, is very nice! Same goes for visuals and the music!

Controls are fair and I like the gameplay! I did find it a bit unclear about the threshold for winning while off-track. It was a smart choice to have the finish line not work if you just skip the track entirely, but there was an instance where I lost the track, found it, then lost it again near the finish, so I just went for it, only to realize it didn't count.

Other than that, it was a fun experience! Well done!

I do agree with you on that. While it makes sense that dodging down would work for diagonal slashes, it does make dodging diagonally less necessary in those situations. I have yet to find a good solution for that.

Interesting, I thought the jump was pretty balanced on hard mode, but that may be because I had to play test it a lot and got used to it. Jumping is a big difficulty factor in this game and it’s meant to be slower than normal dodges, but I’ll definitely look into adjusting it a bit more.

I’m happy to hear you enjoyed the game, and thanks for your feedback!

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed the game!

No worries about mastering it! Even I still get tripped up a lot, so you can imagine how tedious playtesting was throughout the development.

Thanks for playing and I hope you'll give it another go once more content is added!

I love the light and darkness mechanic, it's executed really well! Visually it looks nice, sound design is great and level design is cool. There's so much potential for extra content too!

Great game!

What an interesting idea for a game! It's very polished on all fronts and the gameplay is challenging yet fun! Great work!

Also, my highest score, because why not

Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed the game and found the gameplay addicting, it means the world to hear that! Thanks for the feedback and kind words!

Nice! I'm excited to hop back in and finish it!

About your concern, perhaps I just missed something to progress further. I'll let you know once I play it again.

No problem! I'm happy to hear that you plan on adding more content to the game! I'll absolutely be checking it out when the update is out!

I'm happy to hear it! Originally I was gonna go with very low saturation, but I'm glad I decided on this rust-like color. I'm still experimenting with the visual tweaks, so I'll look into making these things pop more. The movement is meant to be a bit slower due to the story of the miner character, which will be added in the future. I'll still double-check and potentially make some tweaks, so thanks for pointing it out. I'm glad you liked the light mechanic and the overall vibe!

I have big plans for this game, so it will be an ongoing project! Thank you for playing and I hope you will again in the future!

Thank you! I figured the game was small enough to be played through a browser, instead of needing to download it.

I should have prioritized the clarity for what the items and how they are used. In hind sight, there were so many different ways I could have made it clear when the generators are being used, mainly with sound, like you suggested.

Health bars were something I considered, but I actually prefer to not have them visible, as they kinda ruin immersion. Perhaps a simple visual screen effect would be smart to add.

I made the player move a bit slower because it's a part of the story about the miner that I didn't manage to tell in this jam. It will make more sense when I implement the full story.

Hiding can definitely feel broken at times, and it's mainly due to the enemy AI being programmed a bit poorly. When it stops chasing it will begin to wander for 15 seconds, but it usually doesn't go very far from that spot. Also, if you don't get a good distance from them before hiding, they will be able to kill you in the minecart. This is actually a bug, but it makes the enemies a bit more clever, so I kept it.

In the beginning area, it tells you the objective when you approach the rocks, though I realized that it can be easily missed by just not going near them.

I'm glad you liked the light mechanic! And sure, they are more or less zombie miners.

And no need to be sorry, the more shortcomings and issues that get pointed out, the better for the future of this game, which I will be continuing! Thank you for such a thorough review!

Thanks, my partner did an amazing job with the sound design! Speaking of Darkwood, it was a big inspiration for the game, at least the light mechanic. I totally agree about the level design though, it was very rushed and not well thought out, but I plan to completely replace and expand the map in the future.

Thank you for your kinds words and feedback!

I did run out of time to add actual combat, despite having an animation for the player's attack, as well as proper tutorials or explanation of the mechanics and items. It's something I plan to add once I resume working on the game. And being able to hear the enemies was a big oversight, so I'll be looking into adding that as well. Thank you for playing the game and useful feedback!

Ah I see, makes sense! Regardless of whether you decide to expand it or not, I wish you the best with future projects!

Oh nice, I'll give it go!

Sure thing! I look forward to playing it again once the expansion is complete!

I'm happy to hear you like the concept! I did unfortunately run out of time to add a proper story, but I do have it in the works. The map is also more of a placeholder until I come up with a better one. My partner for this project made so many great sounds and music I didn't manage to implement, and I do intend to do so once the jam is over. Thank you for playing and giving your honest thoughts! The development of this game will go on!

I love this game! It has a great concept, visuals, sounds, atmosphere and theme. The grappling hook feels awesome and smooth to use. The puzzles are just hard enough and well thought out along with the level design. It would be so cool if it was expanded post  jam!

Incredibly fun game!

What a cool game concept! I love how you can choose the answers through collecting orbs, that's very creative. The controls fell very smooth and satisfying. The man on the monitors feels very eerie with their design which works very well for a horror game about experimentation. I did find the little alien squid very cute though, I like them a lot. The style of the game is also very pretty!

Very cool game!

What a unique idea! The style is very nice, I really vibed with the radio's music when it played, and the monster's design looks great. The gameplay is fairly simple, I wish the monster was a bit more active or had something up it's sleeve to mix you up.

Apart from that, the game was fun to play!

Cool short game! There is some performance issues at first when loading the game and while in main menu, but it's smooth sailing after that. The sounds are a bit too loud and the sound of the window breaking for some reason plays when launching the game and again when loading in. Other than that the game was fun!

Good work!

The visual style is incredible and same goes for sound design and music! I love how you added so much more fun and originality to the Weeping Angels styled gameplay. The mirror was such a cool addition too and added a whole new level of strategy. It was quite challenging for me to complete, so I'm thankful that the phone doesn't have a random spawn position each time.

Very well done!

It's probably best to check out the game's page before playing to not waste time, but feel free to give mine a go: https://itch.io/jam/scream-jam-2025/rate/3966274

I'll of course be checking out yours as well!

Possibly one of the most addicting games I've ever played. It does a great job at keeping you hooked. The style and sound design are great. You took such a simple concept and made is so fun with all the cool upgrades and gambling.

Amazing game, would crank again!

I love the idea behind this game! The navigation through the map while also watching out for the monster is a very cool concept. Visually the game looks very nice, I'm a fan of the style!

However, the game seems to be in a rough state at the moment. First of all, the dialogue should have the option to be skipped. It was very annoying to have to wait for it to finish in order to try again after dying. Second, the monster behavior is not very clear in my opinion. The guy on the radio says that you should keep the door open when it's behind it, but it killed me both when I listened to him and when I closed the door. There is mention of hiding from the monster, yet there's no apparent way to do it. Another good addition would have been a game over screen or a simple fade in and out, because I didn't even realize I have died until the dialogue started repeating again.

You have a great concept, and I would love to play it again after some improvement!

Amazing game and story! It's crazy to see such level of polish and deep lore for such a short duration of time to make it. The visual style is so good, the tension buildup is very well done through sound design, the monsters looked creepy and intimidating. The amount of storytelling through the environment is impressive and captivating.

This is one of the few games I've played where I honestly couldn't find any issues to point out. The only thing I was gonna suggest is making the monsters more of a threat, like chasing the player once they grab the card at the beginning, but considering this is essentially just an intro, it still works very well.

Great work! I'm very excited for the other parts!

It's a very nice short interactive story! The style is simple but charming, and I love the story told through interacting with items in the house. Since there's not much actual gameplay, I at least wish the story didn't end so abruptly and kept going, I was really starting to get invested in it. I'm not sure if you plan to expand the game later or not, but you got a great foundation for it.

The lack of audio is a bit disappointing, it would have added so much more to the mood of the game. I honestly thought my audio wasn't working until the only sound effect in the game played.

Also, I loved the goats, they were adorable!

Well done!

Such an amazing and polished game! Everything from sounds and chilling atmosphere to the stunning visual really got me hooked immediately. I love the concept of the phone booth a lot. Definitely kept me tense each minute I played.

It is unfortunate that I didn't see the warning about the soft lock when you enter the bedroom and got stuck. Sadly it happened again after restarting, but this time I couldn't do anything when I'm tasked with following the trail, despite avoiding the bedroom. It's such a bummer, I really want to see how it ends.

Even so, it was a very scary and awesome experience! I can't wait to play it again, once the soft lock is fixed!

Very creative concept for a game! Everything is so mysterious and beyond my comprehension, but so well executed. The visuals are also very pretty. The puzzles were simple enough, yet interesting, although it's clear that the focus is more on the choice making.

There were two issues I ran into while playing. First, the text before each choice disappears way to quickly and I often didn't get the chance to read it all the way through (I'm a slow reader). Having the player manually press a button to continue would be a nice feature. Second, the doors blend in with the walls way too much, making progressing kinda hard and made me miss the door that leads to the elevator for a good chunk of time. They really could use some design features that make them stand out more.

Also, the star puzzle in particular should give some kind of visual/audible cue or finish automatically when the player solves it correctly. I was messing around with it for so long before realizing I needed to press escape to complete it.

Apart from that, the game is very enjoyable to play! Fantastic work!

It looks very interesting, I'm definitely gonna give it play!

Here's my game, if you have time to check it out: https://itch.io/jam/scream-jam-2025/rate/3966274

A short, but cool and spooky game! The graphics and the visuals are great and really made me feel uneasy. The jumpscare really got me and the monster design was sick! I kept looking back to get a good look at it and it really shocked me with it's speed. I love the chase music/sounds as well! I did mistake the inventory bar for the stamina bar and was confused when it didn't go down, though. It could have taken up less screen space since there's not many items to fill it, but that's my only complaint.

Nice game!

The style is nice, and the design for plague doctor is adorable!

The gameplay could have used a bit more action, or at least a larger quantity of zombies (though that's just me nitpicking). Potion throwing should have some kind of animation to let the player know that they are actually throwing it, and sometimes the throwing would stop working, but is fixed by moving away from the zombie and then trying again.

As a person who is still new to game development, I can really appreciate simple games like this. Keep up the good work! I look forward to see what games you make in the future!

A cool short game!

The visuals are very simple, yet have their charm and the gameplay is straightforward. I loved the shark's design, it was unique and creepy. I think that the item placement and map layout could have been a bit more thought out, since simply sticking to the edges of the walls/ground made it easy to avoid the shark altogether. Then again, maybe I just got lucky with the AI spawn and patrol.

More sound effects and ambiance would've also been nice and made it feel more tense.

Great concept and a solid game!

I dig the concept of this game! I like how you have to scare one away, while attracting the other as you do so, requiring some strategy. The monster designs were great and so was the level.

At first I thought that hiding would work on both, but it seems like the one you have to scare away always knows where you are and doesn't leave until you do.

The one thing I found to be problematic and potentially game breaking is throwing the keys. While it seems that hiding isn't really necessary most of the time, it does require you to throw the key first, only for the key to clip through the ground or the walls a lot of the times, completely ruining the run. Perhaps it would have been smarter to simply just store them in the inventory and have them removed once used, or just adding the drop function. Also, the notes were quite hard to read with the monster being so active. Pausing the game would've worked just fine for that.

 That aside, very nice game!

Such an amazing game! It really keeps you on edge every second you're playing. The graphics and sound are so well done, and the story is set up so well.

I love the variety of monsters you have to watch out for, and their lore/descriptions. It's so unfortunate I couldn't make it past night 2, I'm so curious what the others are in later nights. The game kept me so tense I had to call it quits after a few tries.

There were a few issues, mainly the player teleporting around for some reason, which I'm not sure if it's just my browser or a bug in the game, but it really made it hard to play. On top of that, the spiders felt kinda clunky because they kept getting stuck on trees/rocks and wouldn't leave for a good amount of time after being flashed.  Another thing was the time you are given to read through the guide. I'm not the fastest reader, so the first time around I died because I didn't read all the monster descriptions in time.

And for the love of god, please lower the sound of the door getting damaged, it just about separated the soul from my body every time.

Other than that, the game is amazing, and I'll definitely be trying again to survive through all the nights!

This game builds tension very well, I was scared most of the time playing, thanks to the sound design and atmosphere. The match mechanic was a very nice touch, though I wish they would've had more use other than being the light source. The first monster encounter really got me good. It could've used a scarier design to make the game even more terrifying, but I can still appreciate it.

Well done!
