that’s a strong idea! I’ll definitely get on making it responsive and add an immersive, desktop mode for sure.

wow, thank you!
Yeah, it’s intentionally monolithic in structure for ease of expansion/ fixing bugs. I know people prefer segmentation, but this way (if you know what you’re looking for) I can just look at 1 file and see everything. It also makes it uber portable.
Honestly though, I glad you liked it. Do you have any feedback? I realise there’s ALWAYS room for improvement with everything
I would be extremely appreciative; https://itch.io/jam/game-off-2025/rate/4067590
in regard to creativity, I think you’ll mine very different to yours. https://itch.io/jam/game-off-2025/rate/4067590
hey! So, I have uploaded a playable version of what I mentioned if you care to have a go. It’s not quite done yet but is (or should be) fully playable. This isn’t a part of a jam or anything else… so yeah, if you want to give it a go…:https://justjeffs.itch.io/dead-reckoning
That is very kind of you to say, however, I must disagree. It can take more than bare code to make fun enjoyable games. Imagine if all games were like mine… it’d be the 1980s/1990s again. I have literally just played your game and the artwork (the stills) are something I would really struggle to do.
so, the jump with spacebar seems slightly delayed which does feel a little odd and takes a minute to get used to. You have platforms on the second level... maybe a good idea to have a few unstable and collapse after say 3 seconds? it would force forward movement and stop people from being able to carefully plan and instead create a sense of danger and hurry. the door which you get to to end the level, maybe have the character actually "go through" and then auto load the next level. Im sorry if this looks like a list, but it does have good bones :D
THANKS FOR PLAYING. I ma currently writing a full "3d£ version... well, a relative of... it'll be much more intense :D - you are correct though, sometimes you literally have to sacrifice a life or two... but you can get them back in the "3d" levels. I let you know when I have a playable version of the full "3d" game. its 90% done anyway
