Hahaha I'm glad that you enjoyed the characters so much. I really do love writing childhood friend groups LOL There's something so fun about thinking about them all throughout the years and how their dynamics have changed or evolved and where that leaves them now and all the memories and baggage that comes with their relationships with everyone else in the group. Also because I love leaving all kinds of hints about past stuff it leaves the door open for soooooo much that I can vaguely allude to that has such an impact on the dynamics.

Cordy is married with one child. It's. Hmm. Complicated!!! To say the least 🤣 But there's a lot of convoluted threads of emotional baggage going on between them, so. But yes there is going to be some supernatural stuff to the story as well, even if it won't be to the extent of OW, there are definitely some dark factors at play.

LOL to me Gum and Iggy aren't very similar except for kind of a few surface-level things, though that's probably because I know the trajectory of their full stories and how different they are 🤣

"I can't help but want to ship everyone together" NO FOR REAL ME TOO HONESTLY HAHAHAH. I love the different dynamics between all of them so much. It made it a ton of fun to write, especially the chaotic moments with all of them together (even if those were the bits that took me the looooongest to code lol) Sob thank you so much though for the kind words about the visuals, too. I've really been trying to experiment with different ways to set up and direct scenes to help it feel engaging and alive and really show off the characters in a fun way. And your words about the art mean so much, especially from someone who's always struggled to get people to like their artwork. I really love drawing lots of expressions and really exaggerating their faces 🤣

I am both afraid and excited too at what comes next sob. Because despite the pain it will bring me, I'm a sucker for that pain and I love a really emotional story that makes my heart break hahaha. So I'm hopeful that those who play this will be somewhat the same and won't hate me too much for everything that will eventually happen.

LOL thank you for the kind words about the art... I have indeed already done quite a lot for this. I feel like I'm making up for the lack of choices by trying to inject as much art and cinematography into this as I can to make it feel really immersive. That way no matter what (hopefully) players will still have a really fun experience and be able to connect with the chars and story. (Then again maybe I would have done that anyway LOL I just like experimenting with stuff in Ren'Py and trying to make really cinematic experiences I guess).

I'm so glad you enjoyed the character dynamics, too. I wanted to make sure I really set the stage for the chars right off the bat before starting to dive into darker stuff since, like just about everything I do at this point, connecting to and feeling for the chars is going to be important for the story to come off right.

Hey! I know in the rules you state "You can submit an older work if it fits the criteria" but I just wanted to be 100% sure that it's ok if the game/demo wasn't made during the exact time of the jam. (For context, I just released something that fits the jam perfectly, so I'd love to submit it. While it's brand-new, since I released it before the jam actually started, I wanted to double-check that it's ok!)

Thank you for the high praise about the visuals and staging ahhhh... I feel like that's one of the major things that I'm trying to push with this one. And maybe it's because it's a culmination of everything I've learned with my past games or just because I feel guilty at the lack of choices so I want to up the visuals to make up for it... or something else entirely, but, somehow one of my major goals with this project became wanting to make it an incredibly cinematic experience as well as I could and try a lot of new things. I'm not quite sure yet how some of these visual decisions will carry over into the horror aspects once I begin working on those LOL but we will see. No matter what I feel like I'm also going to continue learning and experimenting a lot as I work on this project hahaha.

"how poetic the prose sounds juxtaposed next to the colorful dialogue" --> LOL I'M GLAD I sometimes worry about some of my weird word choices and style in the narration up against the insane ridiculousness of some my dialogue but at this point I can't change it it's just become a staple of my writing voice so 🤣

I'm so glad you enjoyed the characters!! They've worked there ways into my heart so much so I was really hoping people would end up liking them. MARSHALL IS TRULY A HIMBO IT'S TRUE. Hahaha RIGHT THOUGH THEY ACTUALLY ALL GET ALONG??? Well mostly hahaha. They have some points of contention but it's mostly rather lighthearted (for now). This type of dynamic has been a ton of fun for me to write though, especially thinking about them all on an individual level of what their dynamic would be like with every other member of crew and how that sometimes changes. I just really love writing group casts I guess. Though it makes it challenging to script out the scenes sometimes hahaha so much going on...

I feel like I've slowly been getting better at direction and cinematography stuff with each of my games, so I wanted this to be kind of a culmination of so much of what I've learned so that it can feel really immersive. Maybe that's my strategy since I don't have choices or something LOL but also I just really enjoy it and this type of storytelling so much, so I just want to push what you can do in various ways and have a lot of fun with it. So I'm really happy that you enjoyed it! I loved getting to work with the different formats and stages for the scenes (though I still need to figure out if I'm going to carry through the comedic format once we get deep into horror territory... LOL will perhaps do some experimentation when I get there hahaha).

I'm so happy you liked the characters too. Gosh I really love writing groups like this so much... I love the chaos of it and the possibility for so many convoluted interwoven dynamics between all the personalities. It makes it a lot of fun to write, even if I sometimes reach the end of a scene in complete bewilderment as to what I just wrote LOL And even if the particularly chaotic scenes take forever to script 🤣 Ah well. Writing different vibes of friendship between all of them was very enjoyable, especially when trying to weave in this feeling of knowing each other for so long and all the other complicated emotions that may be at play for one reason or another. Suffice to say I just really love writing groups of friends 🤭

You make such an interesting point about the adulthood thing with all of them at these different stages and on their own paths and having had to make different (hard) decisions about stuff. This has definitely led to a lot of ways their dynamics have changed over the years... sometimes for the better, sometimes for worse... Indeed though unfortunately I'm going to come in and ruin it all, aren't I? It's pretty much what I do 🤣 Because characters (and people) aren't perfect and sometimes they do things that hurt others either consciously or subconsciously and those things can have drastic effects on others' lives. Let alone if anything uhhh... supernatural ends up being involved 😀

But I digress.
