Unfortunately, it was looked at by a human, because I had some of my CWs thrown back in my face (ones for "sexual violence," "unwanted sexual advances," "disturbing content," etc) and was told to explain myself 🥴 This is what led to me being called a weirdo and a freak on Reddit lol

But even after I appealed that no actual SA takes place in the game (it's more a threat but nothing happens in the end because it's stopped) and that the unwanted sexual advances was referring to things like the MC being kissed sensually and getting uncomfortable because he's asexual so he eventually pulls away, it didn't matter and I was ignored. It didn't matter that there's no actual nudity or sexual content in the game -- because of these CWs it must be NSFW.

I think that a lot of the flagging must come down to specific wording: I see other games with CWs like "unwanted advances" and "dubcon" that don't get flagged for instance. Though for some reason straight up labeling your game 18+ doesn't get flagged LOL Some devs also put their CWs only in an external link or in an image, which keeps it from getting flagged.

It's just really frustrating all around and starts to make it feel really targeted 😅 And likely nothing is going to change about how it works, you just have to be careful and hope you don't get flagged for the way you worded something.

And yes I agree -- there's certainly nothing in OW worse than what's in The Letter for instance, which is an ESRB rated M VN:

 And it definitely definitely is no worse than M-rated AAA games like Baldur's Gate, GTA V, The Witcher, etc that have straight up nudity and sex LOL 🤣

The fact that there's literally games that say 18+ and that's somehow totally fine but my game is not is what really gets me 🤣 Ahhhh... alas. This whole fiasco since last summer has honestly just drained me so much. The one good thing that's come out of it is the Steam opportunity though because of BáiYù's kindness, which is why I'm so so hopeful that it can go well.

Yeah I'll probably leave the OG version on Patreon! That way it's not like, super obvious and getting in the way of ppl just trying to search for the game (because I don't want it to be confusing as to what each version is), but it would still be accessible for ppl in the community that want it for whatever reason.

(Also thank you 💕 And actually if you're serious about that Steam Deck check I may take you up on it, as I would at least like to know that the game can be run on it without any issues before release... 😂)

I also hope the Steam release can go better -- since this happened, my whole account here on itch has seen a massive slump in visibility and it's been really discouraging as someone who's been really trying to make a little community on here with my games. It just makes me really sad. But I hope I can still find ways to share my games places they can actually be seen 💕

Tbh I'd been planning to eventually archive the original anyway -- I think it will create some confusion when trying to search for the game and not knowing which is which etc. I'd rather there just be one main version out so it's more clear for people just stumbling on or looking for the game for the first time. Though that was when I planned to still release the remaster here, so it would have maybe been more gradual and having both versions on the page for a while before getting rid of the old one. 

Now especially after all this I would just rather get rid of it. Feel like it's causing me nothing but bad thoughts and dredging up anxiety. I'll probably still leave it up on Patreon though, we'll see.

It's ridiculous amounts of frustrating and feels like a kick in the teeth tbh. Thank you though 💕 I really hope it can, too!

It seems to just be a permanent thing at this point. There haven't been any updates or progress since it happened last year at least -- adult games still cannot be paid without being deindexed, etc. And there are still many SFW devs deindexed without answers., too.

This is the original universe yeah 🤣 This is the universe all the characters are originally from and my first (and main) creation/story about them. Because I really like to make AUs and write more stories about my characters, I've created a few other games (and comics) that are completely separate from this main game but use the same characters, and MVBSLS is one of them!! (Note: Genzou is not a vampire in this LMAO that's unique to MVBSLS. But he is still a snarky smoking shortstack 🤣)

Oh thanks for the rec!! At the moment I'm paying for Audiostock and it's never given me any trouble thankfully. It's only back when I first started and I was trying a few different things that I ran into some of the Annoying ones like Epidemic Sound and didn't realize until too late about the content ID thing. But nothing I've used since switching fully to Audiostock has ever led to any issues thankfully. But I'm always on the hunt for new music, too.

I don't even know LOL I'm unsure how hard/easy it is to get one or the other, but I do know if Iggy keeps injuring Genzou in the apartment that will lead to poor Iggy's death hahaha 😂 I'm glad you got the good ending though on your first playthrough. I will likely have more choices like this in the future that can potentially lead to Iggy's death, though probably they won't necessarily be from Genzou but rather other vampires, etc. The poor guy just can't catch a break!

You're not alone in that -- I have thought about it too 😆 And yes, Iggy is ace!! It's a bigger part of the original game the chars are from (like a major theme is him figuring himself out) but even in this AU I found it coming to the forefront simply because of the themes and rather inherent sexual-ness that comes with vampires and biting ppl lol even though it's not said directly.

The backgrounds are photos that I applied filters to in GIMP, yes. I don't and will never use AI in any of my projects. Unfortunately as I make all my games for free with no budget I don't have money to pay someone to draw professional quality VN backgrounds, so I use photos from royalty-free photo sites so that I can still make games for people to enjoy.
