Excellent, I'm glad that I was right on the money! 😄 Perhaps you could even make that intention more clear by having some feedback effect when you attempt to interrupt, but can't? It would really connect the frustration of the child with the player's actual frustration haha
Best of luck with bug fixes, and kudos for continuing the development grind after the jam!
Writing this based off the re-upload, but loved the concept of intrusive thoughts being a visual and gameplay design choice, and the simplicity of the character and background art keeps it from being messy or hard to understand. Waiting for the game to allow me to make choice almost made it feel like the protagonist insists on always letting the mother finish speaking first, so I wonder if there was a conscious design choice in not allowing the player to click an option and like...literally interrupt her? Maybe the protagonist can't bear to behave like that, in which case, that would be a really deeply meaningful design choice you made here!
Amazing comment that's practically a review, thank you so very much for this! 😍 Yes, our protagonist certainly does a lot of growing from this "one" conversation, glad it works out for him 😂
Glad to know our work serves as learning material too because yes, this sort of game is our bread and butter now after a lot of research (gaming) and practice (releasing two games) 💪 Best of luck to you, I know your next game will be even better~
Woot, this appeared in my queue! 🎉
The tarot cards are a very cool mechanic, especially in how they sort of represent the ideals the player/protagonist is supposed to hold. Everything burning away and leaving behind only "Fear" was a chef's kiss moment 👏
The storytelling was very grand and flew a little over my head, but I could still understand the intended vibes thanks to the imagery, narration cadence, and music! Great work overall, considering the unfortunate circumstances you had with programming 🙏
Ayyy, this showed up in my queue!
Finally got to try it for myself, and definitely needed to scroll through the other comments to understand that I needed to press Enter and type commands myself. On my second time around, I did notice the tutorial for that appear at the top, so I'm thinking it would be good to shove the tutorialization in the player's face more, especially for the "tutorial" levels.
There's definitely a fun feeling of being a hacker here, and I can see the potential if the complexity of commands and stressors like time limits and life counters get introduced! Overall, it is SUPER smooth and stylish~
Amazing level of polish! 💖 It was especially inspired to have the dandelion act as a means of infinite flight while also capturing the right vibes with the pretty floating white particles~ It made me to keep on wandering around to the point where it wasn't too bothersome to search for 55 of the seeds!
Vibes from the art are very compelling, but I too got a little stuck by how the game seems to not show the bottom bottom, text, or even the swinging girl until I zoomed in on my browser window, and even then, I couldn't get it feeling like a true full-screen experience. I wasn't sure how many times I needed to push the swing to shake the cats away so I wish there was some indicator that I was making progress and it wasn't just a bug?
The screenshots clearly show there is more to the game so I wish I could've accessed the rest of it!
Hello! Thank you for putting together a lengthy, emotionally enthusiastic comment! Yes, a killing game with so few contestants is a novel concept, and a challenge that I feel was well-attempted by a big fan of this genre! Your theory about it ending in 5 minutes is an interesting one, so I recommend you check out the free demo to see if it plays out exactly like that 😄
Also you're correct, I do not possess the skills needed to make high quality sprites, which is why I am truly grateful to have my character artist on this project. Please check out his link in the bottom section of the page!
Thank you so much for playing! Yes, as the author, I was definitely inspired by my personal fascination with "killing games" like Zero Escape and Danganronpa 🥰
Please don't forget to leave us a rating as it really helps us out! We don't have any publisher backing us, so word-of-mouth is literally all we got! 🙏
Hello Olaf! Thank you so much for purchasing the full game! I sincerely hope you will show us some extra support by giving us a good rating and joining our Discord server! 😄
To answer your question, you can unlock the rest of the gallery by "rejecting" the True Ending! Consider the important choice you made to get the True Ending, and what choice you had to make in order to get to that point in the first place! I'm sure you will figure it out ;)
After years of development, "Yet Another Killing Game" is now available on itch.io! We're hosting a 20% off sale for one week to celebrate the release!

You wake up in a house, alone with two beautiful girls... But no one is allowed to leave until one of you DIES. Why is this happening? What is the purpose of this “killing game”? But most importantly...WHO SHOULD DIE?
If you like death games, visual novels, and/or pretty anime girls who can and will commit murder, I sincerely hope you will check out our FREE demo or our YouTube channel to find out more about the game!
