I've run this game twice now, and each time it's been a stand-out role-playing experience. It appears to be a crowd-pleaser. This game does exactly what it sets out to do, and it's mesmerizing - like a magic trick.

The 1st time, we ran the February track, and the game was dark, haunting, and surreal. It was fun and exciting, but it had an emotional kick that's not common in rpgs. It was not goofy or silly.

This time, we ran the October track, and the game was a silly, light-hearted ghosts-and-goblins romp, complete with witches dancing around a bonfire, bubbling cauldrons, and so forth. It was a picture-perfect Halloween game, and we all had a great time.

Would you recommend this game for a one-shot? Or is it intended for longer, multi-session play?

I ran a 5 session mini-campaign with this system and had a blast! Hijinx, pettiness, and silly grandstanding were plentiful.

The system is light but engaging. My players really enjoyed character creation and loved the tone and content.

Hey - where are the Catherine and Lydia cards? Did I just miss them?

I wound up grabbing the images off this page, slapping them in a document & printing them out, but surely that's not what's intended. Where are they hiding?

You're not wrong. It is a little disconsonant.

Still, it's handled succinctly and well, and doesn't come close to dominating the rule set the way combat does in some systems.
