I had so much fun playing this one! The audio/SFX added so much to the feeling, and the art is also very good. If I had to choose something to nitpick on, it'd probably be that getting younger/older is not evolution (though you're not the only game in the submissions who took this approach for the theme). The game itself is awesome. Well done!

For the platforming, I initially thought the rain clouds wouldn't be hazardous since I picked up water drops earlier, so I walked into them intentionally.
For the maze, I thought I could still jump at first because I had only been platforming so far, until I walked into the water and then saw my jump button had turned red.
For the word puzzle, I knew I had to press the buttons to create a word, but it wasn't clear how I was supposed to know which letter would appear after clicking the button.
Cute game. I managed to reach the end and become a big tree! There is a lot of content for a game made by 1 person: the platforming area, the maze, and the word puzzle. It makes the game longer and more interesting, but each area is also a little unpolished in the feedback it gives to the player.
A small thing I personally would've liked to see is how when the player character evolves, their abilities evolve with them. I know the camera view becomes bigger, but it feels more like it takes a negative away (super tiny camera view) instead of adding a positive (e.g. bigger jump/double jump).
Overall, it has a lot of potential! The base is definitely there, the art looks very cute, and you picked good music to accompany the vibe of the game. I'd focus on one area/gameplay loop first and polish it until it feels really good to play through, before adding more content.
Thank you for playing! Unreal Engine is the engine Frits & I are most comfortable with using because of our study. We had to use an older version of the engine from a couple of years ago that still supports web builds haha. It's always interesting to try and figure out ways to make 2D look good in a 3D engine without performance issues.
We really appreciate your feedback. We'd love to look into some extra balancing and polish for after the voting, so this is great!
Thank you so much, it makes me really happy you say that! I've been practicing pixel art in my spare time to become faster and more coherent with it in general. These game jams are a big help and show more progress every single time. These are some sources I used:
Creating a top-down tileset: https://www.sandromaglione.com/articles/how-to-create-a-pixel-art-tileset-comple...
Creating a color palette: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUdMb8Bb2II
I used Aseprite for all of the art, which is honestly a wonderful investment if you want to do more pixel art. There are of course still a lot of things I'd love to improve, such as how I'm still using both 16x16 and 32x32 together, and we scale the assets in the engine afterwards on top of that as well.
I'm super impressed by the art in this game! Honestly one of the prettiest games I've played so far. The frogs in the sewers are legendary. One small thing I struggled with a little was the difference between playground and background assets. Sometimes they blend together in visual style/color/shapes etc which makes me unsure if I can jump on something or not, which is even more important in platformers to make a clear distinction. A similar case are the ice spikes which were clearly sharp, but still felt like they were part of set-dressing and not actually being hazardous. These are just nitpicking pieces of feedback. The game overall was super epic!
The concept is fun. I really like the glob glob glob and seeing numbers go up and becoming stronger. The balancing is a bit off for me, since I was able to keep eating enough pollen and just move immediately to the ancient flowers without any struggle. I barely noticed the enemies in the levels because of this. Though for a game jam it's better for things to be a little too easy than it being so difficult that it feels unfair. I had a lot of fun, thank you!
The concept is simple but super effective! The plant growing and evolving looks hella sexy and feels great to fight enemies with. I am a little sad that some sprites and quality of life features have been made before the jam, which is the only reason why I can't give it the full 5 stars by my own rating standards. Music & audio are banger as always. Overall, Super Sexy out of 10
Thank you for playing the game and for the great feedback!
At wave 10 the camubugs spawn which can only be killed by stray AOE damage or the flower tower that can see camouflage. The game is an endless game and the waves get stronger at lvl 25 and 50, though it has not been balanced for more than 15 minutes of gameplay since we didn't expect players to stick around for longer haha. Thank you for hanging around for more than 10 runs <3
Adding bosses every couple of waves is definitely something we'd love to do, so maybe if we have time we will after the jam!
Very simple but it works. It's missing a few quality of life features for me. I'd love to change the trees I've previously placed into more expensive ones, and there are a few trees that are clearly way stronger than other trees (I just went full pine tree once I saw the attack speed). Overall, well done!
The art looks great. I had to play through the game twice before I understood how to play it properly without dying. It ended up being quite enjoyable and I managed to craft wings and thrusters for the space ship. At the end I didn't know if I completed the game or not since I couldn't craft more space ship parts but I also didn't receive any confirmation that I was done. Very fun game though!
