I love that you specialize in dark  medieval fantasy themes, because that’s definitely the direction I’m trying to explore with this game.

I’ll take a look through your portfolio and will DM you on Discord so we can talk more!

Hey, thanks for responding! I’ll shoot you an email so we can talk a little more and maybe set up some time to discuss the project, the tone, and what a small first test could look like.

Really appreciate you reaching out.

Hey, thanks for reaching out and thanks for emailing your work over too. I really appreciate it.

I’m going to take a look through everything, and I’ll definitely reach out on Discord so we can chat more. I’d love to talk through the project a little more and see if there’s a good fit for a small first test commission.

Nice to meet you too, and thanks again for responding!

Hey everyone, I’m working on a small 2D isometric story-driven game in GameMaker and wanted to see if any artists here might be interested in helping shape the visual direction.

The game has a pretty linear story and a dark medieval horror tone. It follows a loyal knight who slowly realizes that enemy he wards off may not be the enemy, and that the kingdom he serves is hiding something much worse.

The vibe I’m going for is gritty medieval fantasy, folk horror, and dark religious imagery. I also have a friend helping with music, which is leaning into a heavy, doomy metal sound, so I’d love the art to feel like it belongs in that same world.

I’m still early in the prototype, so I’m not looking for final polished assets yet. I’m mainly looking for someone who enjoys this kind of mood and might be open to doing a small paid test commission.

The first thing could be something simple, like a few rough character silhouettes, a Saint-King concept, Death-side symbols, Kingdom-side props, or a rough gameplay-view mockup.

Budget for the first small test would probably be around $50 to $100, depending on what we decide to do.

At the end of the day, I just want to make cool games that make people feel something. I’m looking for someone who connects with that kind of goal and would enjoy helping shape the look of the world.

Feel free to send your portfolio, rates, or any examples that feel close to this kind of tone.

Thanks!
