It was definitely too complex, we had to cut many parts of it and change stuff about 12 hours before the jam was over. I think we overdesigned it with not enough focus on a simple core mechanic. Implementation was also more difficult than expected which left little time for iteration. And yea I think in hindsight the D+Spacebar is neat for the first like, 3 times you do it, then gets old. Thanks for the feedback and thanks for playing!

As other have mentioned I think that the rounds are probably too long and the balance is too harsh. But what an idea! Really great optimization challenge with the different upgrades playing into one another. I like that it challenges you to look at how your car is actually doing when choosing an upgrade. Lots of risk reward decisions too which make it a lot of fun. I played this for much longer than expected and I think you with some slight tuning this could be really amazing. As is its still quite fun. Very well done.
We had a lot of troubles balancing the controls since the idea was to make it somewhat difficult to assemble via the controls. The D+Spacebar was a vestige of this idea. However midway through we found that the controls we had put in were too sloppy which didn't add anything and made the game frustrating. More visual feedback might have been helpful though its hard to say given that we wanted the player to pay close attention to the picture. Maybe some design in the back of the watch to help match might have been a good tradeoff. And I agree, I think the soundtrack came out very well along with the other art. Thanks for playing!
yea we tested a few different base hook speeds. I think it was a bit difficult to have it be a challenge to avoid fish you dont want, but also have it not super tedious. Given a bit more time we probably could have found a better balance. We definitely wanted to refine the fishing by adding more fish/object types and maybe some more options when controlling the hook, but were coming up against time constaints.
Multiplayer would have been awesome. Local multiplayer probably wouldn't have been too hard to add actually, but once again we just ran out of time and energy.
Thanks for playing!
