Joining a mission doesn't always remove a star. The mission difficulties are bands of values, 35-55 is 2 stars for example. A 100 sided die is rolled with modifiers both from the environment (hinted at in the mission descriptors red and green text) and the squad. The Leader provides a modifier as well. It could be that the modifier is not enough to remove a star even though it is actually reducing the difficulty. Does that help?

I mean you very well could have a bug and in that case I do want to fix it!

You can give soldiers custom names. That helps connecting to them ;)

For the stars, you Join the squad before assigning or after? Then you reassign that squad with Join pressed and the mission stars don't return to normal?

It isn't just soldier/squad modifiers but several from the environment. Enemy activity, their and your defenses, weather, supplies. Very likely more to come!

I really dig this game! It's great to pick up and walk away from without too much thought lost. Remind me of One Deck Dungeon without dice. Wishlisted!

Suggestion: please make the button for the hero spell much much bigger. It's tricky on a phone.

I made the game for that fixed resolution. It's tough because I have a widescreen monitor so that would have to be accounted for. Something not accounted for in other games which made it difficult or impossible for me to play :-/

Yeah I toned it down as much as I could. 

I'm noticing a lot of differences in other games that are likely due to resolution as well. Hard to find that sweet spot I guess

If you're referring to the ships... I made polygons in the shape of a Viper and the Galactica! Loved that show.

Not bad for your first game! I think my best feedback would be that controlling both WASD and arrow keys is difficult. If there was a key to press to enter jetpack mode and continue controlling with WASD, that would be helpful to the user. Cheers!
