🛠️ Seeking Collaborators for Historical City-Building Game: Governor
Hi!
I'm Governor, and I'm looking for one or more collaborators to help develop a deep, historically inspired city-building game titled Governor.
🎮 What is Governor?
Governor is a complex, system-heavy city-building and management game inspired by classics like Caesar 3 and Caesar 4, but set in an alternate version of the Roman Empire, where Rome has expanded far beyond its historical borders.
The game focuses on:
-
Economic complexity – detailed production chains, taxes, trade, and logistics
-
Cultural diversity – multiple ethnic groups, religions, housing models
-
Military & infrastructure – forts, troops, roads, bridges, supply chains
-
Development systems – tech trees, deities, public health, education, and housing upgrades
🧩 What’s already done?
I’ve been designing this game for several years. So far, I have:
-
A complete list of 300+ buildings
-
Fully outlined core systems (resources, military, religion, education, security, etc.)
-
Caesar-inspired UI menu mockups (built in spreadsheets)
-
Detailed Excel tables for buildings, size, category, resource consumption/production
-
Extensive documentation of mechanics, aesthetics, and design principles
🔍 What I’m looking for
I'm the sole designer and systems architect so far. I’m now looking for:
-
Programmers – ideally with experience in Godot or Unity, but I’m flexible
-
2D/3D Artists – especially those interested in Roman/classical architecture and interface design
-
Testers / Systems thinkers – if you love balance, simulation, and resource logic
This is currently a non-commercial/hobby project, but if things go well we could later explore a free release or even crowdfunding.
🎯 Who you are
-
You enjoy historical, strategy, or city-building games
-
You’re interested in contributing to a long-term, ambitious project
-
You’re collaborative, creative, and ideally have a passion for ancient history or simulation games
