I’m part of a small two-person indie team, and we’ve just launched the page for our very first project: Jump Broke.
We wanted to create a precision platformer that strips away the usual "move" and "dashes." Instead, we focused on a single, physics-based mechanic: Recoil.
The Concept: You play as a mimic chest. You have no legs. The only way to navigate the world is by firing your own coins at the ground and using the kickback to launch yourself upwards.
Key Features:
- Recoil Movement: Every move requires careful aiming and timing. It’s all about mastering the weight of the jump.
- High Stakes: 1 Jump = 1 Coin. If you miss a platform and take a hard fall, you'll scatter a chunk of your savings.
- The "Debt" Factor: You can actually finish the game in massive debt. It’s a badge of honor (or shame) for how many mistakes you’ve made!
