Hi y'all. Came across this jam, annoyingly a little too late to join part 1, and it sounds like fun but tbh I'm a little confused. I'm not tryna be that one that complains but I'm kinda confused how the majority of the high ranking games on this are way over 3 hours? 

I understand it does say it's ok to go overtime but I'm seeing multiple with 2-3 hours over which feels a little excessive so I'm a little wary of joining since I wanna stick to the time limit and have fun working with that limitation but it feels like whatever I submit will get lost and outshone by the multitude of games that have taken way over 3 hours to produce.

Apologies if this seems overly negative, it just feels like there should be some form of penalisation for going that far over the time limit and not just disqualification from 1st place since 2nd place is still a relatively prestigious position that even a game that takes 7-8 hours to create would still potentially be able to claim

Really glad you enjoyed it. We just thought why not make a game that looks as good as we can make it while simultaneously being as intentionally stupid as possible aha

Excuse me I think you mean StarTrak spinoff aha. But yea we didn't really have laptop controls in mind since most games nowadays can't really be played easily on a laptop wihout a mouse. And yea we had plans to implement a health bar but the person making our combat script never came through so one of our other programmers had to quickly piece togeher the shooting and combat system instead

Thanks for the comment. We did have plans to make it speed up at the dejavu part but I won't lie we were still awake at 7am and were too tired to bother implementing it aha. And we were unsure on whether we should have used that music or not. I'm assuming by Gorillaz scenes you mean the character dialogs? If so then I can confirm those aren't gorillaz, they were original designs created by one of our artists. But thank you, it means a lot :)

We left the mouse in on purpose because we thought that having it there combined with the purposely terrible start music just made it funnier. To achieve the immense scale of some things that we wanted it meant tht we had to make the levels larger in size which meant that even though the ship was made to move significantly faster, it wasn't entirely noticeable. And yea we know but we weren't too fussed about that cos this game was only for an assignment and we don't really have any intentions of making it further

It was alright to play, I do think the filter might need to be toned down slightly and it's a bit weird you can barrel roll bt still stay on the same spot? Also the gun might need a reload limiter cos I turned on my autoclicker and just had a minigun firing xD

Well that's a bug we must've missed when testing whoops! And the cointhing, yea I think we forgot to change that because the 10 coins was iirc only supposed to be a placeholder while we sorted out the incremental code but it seems that managed to slide under our radars through development aha

The art assets are all originals and the music and sounds are all royalty free :). And we tried to implement incremental functions to as much as we can so we need to fine tune that a bit to make the pacing a bit better but other than that, thank you very much :)

That's actually a really cool idea! I won't lie, we only made the enemies float up and down like that to sort of add a little life to them but your suggestion adds an actual purpose to it. Really wish I'd thought of that now aha

I like the whole concept of this game. Definitely needs more levels though so I can keep playing! xD

Camera offset is a little odd but other than it looks really good. I like the whole moon concept as well. Maybe you could have another target floating about on a nearby asteroid or something

Looks promising, Only problem is the ball doesn't seem to roll properly. It gets to the point you're upside down and then just rolls back to where it was instead. Other than that, it's got good potential. I love the idea of the camera as well
