Thank you for playing! I feel I was able to inject some character and perhaps even some humor into the animation, so I'm happy to hear you thought so too. I admit I wasn't exactly sure how to execute the ending, but I figured since the game's atmosphere is somewhat tense, I thought it'd be funny to break the tension with a light-hearted disco track (perhaps some confetti would help to better communicate this idea.)
Fun game! Your interpretation of the theme is very creative, and I like the unique control scheme! It's also satisfying to weave your way through giant rocks, munching as many small rocks as you can, then later devouring those same rocks that gave you trouble. Definitely made me feel like this guy!
My biggest issue is that some rocks that look like you should be able to eat them end up damaging you, which can be frustrating and also lead to overly safe play. Otherwise, you've got yourself a really fun and zen game! GODOT FOREVER!! ✊
Cool idea! I liked how certain blocks reset when time loops but others don't, it's a neat little twist on the time loop formula with potential for interesting puzzles. If I had any issues with the game it'd come down to controls and level design: the player character is very unwieldy, which can be frustrating in a puzzle game when you know the solution but can't execute it, and I felt like the full puzzly potential of the idea could still be reached. Good work!
This game is seriously Balatro level addicting. It's super satisfying to not only rack up upgrades but also to feel yourself getting better in skill as you play. I also really like how the four sides of the tree encourage you to be greedy and search every side in search of bananas, then snatch them up when you spot one (monkey see, monkey do!)
I like how the theme is interpreted on many levels: the roguelike progression, the four sides of the tree, and the passing of generations. The sound effects are also funny and really endear you to the main monkey (you almost feel bad for sacrificing him... almost.)
I think this game's biggest issue is communication, such as not seeing your remaining health points or souls and the rather obtuse narrative behind the progression system. But other than that, you've got yourself a crazy good game that's better than it had any right to be. Amazing job!!
