Awesome, thanks a lot!

Now I won't have to get my underpants dirty trying to make farts!

Thanks! same for you!

Yeah, finally!

A very small demo is finally released. [https://ironaxia.itch.io/unknown-reasons]

I cut more than 50% of the possibilities of the game, even the one that works without too much problems.

If I didn't do that, I would have spent a lot of time trying to improve the code, and finally nothing would have been released during this month of October.

It's just a simple linear level, with a few interactive elements, an elevator, and just a few enemies to beat.

Last week I also spent time on the video projector system. Totally imperfect but does about 50% of the work correctly. (the video used is just a placeholder).

When the projector is attached with an object with physics, we have interesting results.

What is a TPS without enemies?

Enemies can appear in front of you.

So it's been a while since I updated my devlog.

So here are some updates:

I spent the weekend on AI and enemies. And I have to spend some more time to finally put a version online, buggy, of course, but still playable without too many problems.

New update: the dash skill has been added! It is one of the skills available among others.

Okay. Here's a little overview of the game so far. (Due to some Obs Studio bug, the capture is completely messed up, and there is a damn slowdown.)

Unknown Reasons Basic Move

Here are the basic moves:

  • walking and running,
  • jumping,
  • jumping over an obstacle,
  • climbing on a wall.

And yes, for the time being I am using a placeholder character from Mixamo.

Hello. My name is Olivier, I'm a developer and as a hobby I like to make video games.

I'm using the devtober opportunity to share what I've started to create.

The project idea dates back to March 2020 (during lockdown). Then I stopped working on it for several reasons (work to do, lack of motivation, some big annoying bugs, etc).

In this game, your character evolves in different places (office, warehouse, shopping center, ...).

At least in theory, because in the real world, it's just a big test level.

Then come the two main objectives that I hope to complete by the end of October.

  • 1st objective: the possibility to find and unlock the supernatural abilities.
  • 2nd objective: well for the time being I'm not saying anything about what it will be. Instead of describing it, a video capture will be better.

That's all for now.

Stay tuned for the rest, I guarantee you will be surprised!

It looks promising. I'm curious to see what happens next.

Thanks for the comment.

I had to deliver an extremely buggy version, but I'm still working on the project.

Alson in the main menu, go to options, then the resolution option allows you to change the screen size.

And I just realized that it's maybe not obvious, but to change the options, you have to use the right or left arrow on the keyboard or with a gamepad.

This is exactly what I was looking for, documentation to understand how to get started.

And as a bonus you also put your game on Github!

Thank you, thank you very much for all these links.

You wouldn't consider making a tutorial, or a dev log of how you made your game for PSX?

Because making iso files that work on emulators is amazing.

And thank you for taking the time to test it anyway.

2 days before the end of the gamejam, something broke in my code. I spent a while to fix it but in the end I got more exhausted. The last day I had 2 choices left:

either I gave up the gamejam, or I published as is.

That's basically the story.

What a suspense! At first, I thought that the white one was going to win, but finally the black one came back in a hurry.

Then again the white went in the lead, before being overtaken by the black!👍

Hi.

Concerning the difficulty, in normal mode, I didn't manage to finish the first level. The difficulty seems to me correct but I didn't find a place to get water to restore energy. (But I'm not a good player either)

What bothers me a little is to have to press the E key to get the coins, I think it would be better if you could get them by touching them.

I don't know if it's because of my headphones, but the music was a bit noisy sometimes.

For the rest the graphics are well done, the atmosphere is very well done too, so it's a very good game.

Thanks for the follow and the post.

If everything goes well, there will be a big update coming out around April 11th. It will be almost a complete redesign of the game.

Yes it's true, it's totally nonsense.

The problem is that I've mismanaged my time, the code is terrible, next time I'll know what to do.

But in the end, I laughed so much at this stupidity.

the poor car. sorry but it's such a silly situation that I can't stop laughing.

Bugs are currently a feature of the game!

(actually, the game is broken in its current state, it is still under development)

I'm glad to read that you liked it because of the bugs, they're so ridiculous that it becomes a feature.
for the map I've almost solved the problem, for the vehicles I have to redo everything, but it's still progressing.

I'm Flying! I'm Flying!!

As said before, the computer part is not obvious to find at the beginning. I think that if you have the possibility to add an arrow or to add a door in front of it would be easier to find it.
But otherwise the music is excellent, the AI is well done, and the game is funny.
I would wait to see updates.

Well, thank you very much.
Yes, I intend to continue working on this project, and it will remain free for life.
AI is too pitiful to stay in this state.
I still have the ideas that have been truncated due to lack of time and a few more.

I couldn't test for a long time, my internet connection bugs and it really annoys me.

The cartoon graphics are really beautiful.

The aiming system is a bit weird at first but you get used to it.

It's good work.

Thank you very much. There are in the 60 vehicles. It is possible to increase to about 100 vehicles without too much optimization.
And with a good optimization, at least in the 150.
But the problem is that my driving script is buggy and with more vehicles it becomes even more of a big mess.

Thanks again for allowing me to publish in the jam.
this experience proved to me that I need to improve my time management next time.

Thank you, here is the link to the page:

I haven't even made screenshots yet, I'll make some later.

my upload finished 5 minutes after 11pm, there's no way to add it to the jam?

This game is fun because with the speed of animation you can finish it in less than 30 seconds!

I had already played before the rating period, it's a great game but it's quite difficult (I'm not a pro gamer either).

Good job.

Glad you like it, and thank you for playing.

Excellent remake of the original flappy bird, and this idea of changing the direction of gravity gives an extra challenge and variety to the original game.

Honestly I didn't understand everything, or explore everything, but it's nice overall. I'll come back for future updates.
