Revisiting Legerdemain again after some years.  If you're still tinkering with this, an update to the screen scaling options would be lovely.  I like to play with size 3 (21x13) because it avoids stretching the pixel art, but it's quite small so I have to set my (1440p) screen to half resolution with integer scaling to keep things looking nice.  I open the game before changing resolution (because the window ends up a bit bigger than the screen) and set my taskbar to auto-hide.  This way everything but the blank rows at the top and bottom seem to fit.

A majority of my characters die to a level 5 creature, the shimmering cloud, which appears commonly at depths of 250 feet and below.  Owing to its habit of repeatedly casting wreath of fire, it is far more threatening than other creatures of similar level, and a pair of them can easily take down even a level 10+ character if not prepared.

I think it's fine to have a few creatures present an outsize threat — other good examples include the crone and lichling.  After a death or two I learn to play around them.  I just find it curious that these creatures aren't rated higher than they are — even at level 12, a shimmering cloud doesn't feel like an "easy" enemy to deal with.

Our EULA allows you to install and use imitone on two computers at a time, so you won't need an additional key.  It's also OK if your laptop and desktop use different operating systems (eg, MacOS vs Windows.)

Myself and a friend both gave this a go!  The self-exacerbating problem of egg jams as you hit ~50 epm can get pretty overwhelming...

If it's a performance problem, the main setting for that is pitch range (smaller / more specific is better).

Are you running imitone side-by-side with your DAW on Mac, or using a multi-client ASIO driver on Windows?  In these cases, if there is a mismatch in buffer size or sample rate between the two apps, the sound card can go out of sync causing a terrible stuttering effect.   Usually that issue goes away when trying out a few different combinations of samplerate/buffersize settings in your DAW.

Hello!  (Apologies for the slow reply — I was visiting with family last week!)

We don't retail imitone studio on Itch, but we have an upgrade service available here:  https://imitone.com/support/#upgrades

The process is not automated so give us a bit of time to fulfill the order.  We will cancel your existing license and issue you a new one.  You can speed up the process by sending an E-mail with your 16-digit key to support@imitone.com after you place your upgrade order.

Hello —

I believe you need to follow the instructions here to retrieve your itch key:
https://itch.io/t/67604/how-to-get-a-steam-key-from-your-itchio-purchase

In particular, if you've lost access to the old E-mail, you can have it re-sent (along with all your other itch purchase emails) using this webpage:
https://itch.io/docs/buying/already-bought

Unfortunately I'm not sure we can do this on our end.

I played this game many years ago and often describe it like a fever-dream to other roguelike enthusiasts.  Its relative obscurity, hand-authored nature and the lack of supplementary info (player wiki) make it a particularly mysterious artifact.  Frustrating at times but very memorable.  Perhaps this time I'll try to play all the way through.
