i feel like there's SO many good things about this i could talk about but ill talk about the two that stick out the most in my mind--first of all, the way the story is told by mostly dialogue without narration was stellar. both of these characters voices were super clear and i feel like there are so many times where just the slightest most specific choice of words said so much more about them than any kind of narration could have and i GENUINELY think anyone who wants to get better at that should read this work. the second thing is i found anita's dialogue with this version of herself she sees in her mind so relatable. i have never seen an internal monologue like mine in fiction ANYWHERE before, nor had i even really thought about trying to approach that (both because my thoughts are so chaotic and conversational and also because really when it comes to writing i consider myself a novice) so the fact that this game portrays it so succinctly truly blew me away. just honestly incredible. oh oh okay and a third thing even tho i said i'd only do two, the choice of quotes were awesome, i genuinely think i am going to go through and read the sources of absolutely every one. fuuuuuuuuuucking fantastic, stellar work!!!
THIS WAS AWESOME. i feel like the concept and worldbuilding is so unique and the pacing is phenomenal. everyone truly brought their best to this!! there was not a single thing that didn't impress me. the GUI is stunning and unique, the 3d environments are so cool, the sprites are charming, the writing is incredible, and there are times where i had to pause just to listen to the music. what a freaking feat to do this all in renpy!! you should all be very, very proud of yourselves. i really loved how there were different tonal shifts at points, every time i thought something happened that i wanted, only new horrors awaited, and i think that kind of subversion of expectations is the best kind of feeling!! ANYWAYS, i could ramble a lot, GOOD. FREAKIN. JOBBB!!!
i really enjoyed this!! i suffer from a lot of chronic pain bc i have some auto-immune issues so jams like this can be really taxing on my body. so while my body is recovering, it was nice to read a story that goes into dealing with living while in a lot of pain, going to a lot of dr appointments and all the frustrations of That, just Needing to rest for a bit... i thought it was done rly beautifully, the mixed media style rly lends well to the nature of the metaphor yall went for :) and the screening is a nice touch too, its clear youre both passionate about this subject and wanting people to get help. good job :D !!
i think its rly impressive for someones first vn to be presented like this!! i think thats what i liked most :3 the way the text is formatted + some of the cool bg shader stuff was fun, felt very minimalist but also noisy at points, which i think played with the story well. it was also cool to see the characters from time to time, but not in a traditional way like with sprites, i think it gave a lot more character to them that way. good work ^w^
there are times where im enjoying a game so much i wish it were in 500 other mediums to consume it all over again and then i remember to be grateful to consume it once. and that definitely happened to me during this read. i ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. i am not sure if i am supposed to want to be this womans little baby fairy after this, but i do love that big lady (baddie alert!!), and i kind of would like to be her fairy! really love all the thoughtful details on how big of a size difference there is between these two. and god. THAT CHESS GAME. THAT WAS AMAZING. honestly all of this was amazing. i loved every bit of it. one of my favorite things i think ive ever played. soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo soooooooooooooooooo soooooooooooooo good 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000/10
YAY im so happy to read this!! i dont read much OL yuri but this was so fun, i really enjoyed the dynamics between all 3 characters, and the idea of someone's first vn having this much art and branching choices--you should def be proud of it!! i will ONE. THOUSAND. PERCENT. be playing again when the art is updated! ALSO, ONE OF THE ENDINGS HAS ONE OF THEE TWISTS OF ALL TIME. MY LOBSTER IS SO BUTTERY AND MY STEAK IS SO JUICY. good work :D !
IM SO HAPPY FOR YOU TO RELEASE THIS, IT WAS AN ABSOLUTE HONOR TO PLAYTEST IT HERE AND THEREE!! i loved the atmosphere of swim4swim, i was totally absorbed in the vignettes happening from the beginning to end. there are so many times where i feel like the presentation is really clever or really surprises me :D and the mixed media?! would absolutely love to see more work like this!! good job swim4swim team <3
i love this!! my favorite detail is definitely the polly pocket-like presentation of the middle panel, with all the characters moving around and stuff. i thought that was awesome! i enjoyed the story too, i thought the stars above the characters heads were a rly fascinating way of representing their power and the role of magic in the world! good work :D !!
yay thank you so much for the kind words !! it was a really fun story to write and it seems like you picked up a lot of what i was putting down which makes me happy~ plus that little secret :D you are the first one outside of my beta readers to find it and i was like YESSSS when i saw this comment hahaha
first!!!
edit with my real comment now: yall COOKED. oh my GOD. this is my favorite of ur games, i adore the presentation. the layers are used so well in some parts it feels like im turning up the slider on a 3ds screen in thee best way. and i love that the sprites are a bit non-traditional and uniquely posed for each scene. BUT THE STORY? i really like this take on the trauma aspect of the jam's theme, Ys definitely does some shit that pisses me off but shes presented in also an empathetic way. and i love a good homophobic homosexual character. overall the dynamic of these two girls together feels like it was always fated to end in disaster but its really fun to see where it goes and i think it was especially fun to see where it started. and the scorecard stuff was cool, i like the details about the differences in how they track things... and yamos' adhd maxxing is tooooo real, though i find it funny she does all that and then cant handle the city noise. really good personality moment. GOOD JOB YALL I LOVED SEEING THE PREVIEWS FOR THIS WOWOWOWOW MY FRIENDS R SO TALENTED YIPPEE
sooo glad i found time to read this, i feel like i've just been put thru an emotional wringer! there are a few scenes that left me just horrified (to be vague, queen elizabeth, fanfic inspo) ooouuughhh.... and overall i really enjoyed the surreal quality of the visuals and especially the collages. i was def captivated the whole time bc ur hit pretty immediately with the vibes of how this story will be. honestly, its hard not to feel attached to the tv show characters bc the inner dialogue of the pov is so interesting, and in a cool way i feel like it creates a separation between the pov character and the reader... like oh god would i have been one of those redditors, or at least reading thru the posts... terrifying prospect. well done :3 !!
this was really nice!! i think the standouts for me is jinglebugs sprite as well as the music, but as a whole it all came together awesomely! i think also bc it reminds me of old creepypastas, we're kind of put in the same nostalgic headspace as the protagonist :D i love when games do that! good work~
