Author’s Note

You may notice that this game does not include a restart button.

That choice was intentional. Cold Storage is designed to feel weighty—your decisions shape Elliot’s internal state, and I wanted each playthrough to feel lived-in rather than easily undone. Instead of immediately restarting to chase a different ending, I encourage you to sit with the one you reached. Consider what your choices say about Elliot’s mindset and what they reveal about survival, guilt, and self-worth; ultimately, what they say about you.

If you do choose to replay (which I highly encourage), I hope you approach it not as a way to correct a mistake, but as an exploration of another version of Elliot’s truth.

Thank you for playing.

When I was 12 years old, I went to the roller skating rink. It was my first time attending, and being a shy pre-teen, it would be an excellent opportunity to pick up some “hot women”. After my arrival, I found my way to the concession stand. The young woman who was working there, roughly 16 or 17 years old at the time, was the most angelic being ever to bless my eyes. Her beauty so incapacitated me that when she reached out to hand me a tray of nachos that I had just ordered, I lost my ability to balance with my newfound skating ability and crashed headfirst into her, falling head over heels for her. I will never emotionally recover from the incident. However, to that young woman who witnessed and came to know me that evening, way more than she expected of a 12-year-old boy, I still think about you, and I still love you. I’m willing to wait for you.
