Okay, I downloaded a Steam DRM cracker and tried it with the game and now it works perfectly. So it seems like it was an issue with the steam_api64.dll file since that's the only file that I replaced. Hope this helps you debug whatever the issue was.

I don't know what WinE is. But I can confirm that your other games, plus the demo for this game worked perfectly fine when ran through Steam Proton. It's just this game that refuses to open.

I bought the game on Steam. Game refuses to launch, no window pops-up or anything, didn't have any issues with the Demo on Steam, just the full game. I'm using Linux if that matters.

I'm playing the Steam version of the game. I collected the 3 scraps of paper however when I use the numbers from the 3 papers on the combination lock it just says "No, it's not that..." and the door remains locked. Any other combination has a different response with it saying "I was sure it was that... Unless?" Is there something I'm missing? I can't find anything else to interact with. (Edit: I got it the middle note is supposed to be upside down. However it looks like the messages for the codes are mixed.)

After getting to that room and talking to him I completely lose the ability to open the menu.
