You can play MIRU with multiple people by collectively deciding together the decisions in the game. (The story only follows one person) I think it'd harder trying to navigate multiple people's directions. Would probably feel more like interactive story time than the initial intention. but that is it's own kind of fun!

Sorry for the disappointing format changes! I've moved completely over to horizontal layouts from here on. It gives the book a place on the table and more easily stays open. Moving to square binding was also great, giving us the extra 10 or so pages needed for better rules explanations. For every change I made, there was a dozen or more complaints prior and the changes fix these. The one thing I can't change is how easier it was to print A5 vertically. I do think of digital editions as a bonus to the physicals, and so I don't prioritize them. I just can't make a living through digital/pnp. I did update all past editions to horizontal, so that's consistent. I promised a handful of KS backers a vertical M3, but it will take some serious trimming to get it to fit to 50 pages. I likely won't include it in the zip so folks don't get confused on which to print/reference. but if folks reach out i don't mind emailing a copy. (I also got too many emails being confused on how to print the booklet edition you mentioned. i prefer that too, should be a simple hit print situation, but after 20+ emails i had to change it)
Best way to print the horizontal editions is on a bigger paper like 11x17, i know most printers can't handle that. but that'll get the right proportions without any stretching. Or on letter one page at a time, with a staple in the corner. again sorry for the changes! The print edition looks beautiful on the table and can stay open without using any hands! worth the trouble in my opinion.
my gameplan with pondus and folks who supported anything here, would get a coupon for what they spent. (up to $15) coupon would be for the mimic shop, during the preorder stage after a kickstarter campaign. so not double buying, but would require more funds to purchase the physical edition (i'm aiming for $40 during preorders, msrp will likely be $50-60). but this is likely another year out to be honest. We're trying to aim for the Kickstarter "witchstarter" promotion during an october, and our past kickstarter was delayed enough we feel weird starting another one a month before the old one delivers. Aiming for 2026, will need to go through and update the page a bit.
I would recommend folks print each page out on it's own and staple it in the corner. I've put the 'booklet' version up before but it creates a lot of confusion for folks. some printers can't print it right. Horizontal A5 is def a weird size for at home pnp. I tried to make the game simple enough so one just needs to print the character sheet/map, keep the game digital. hard to make it work for everyone.
no overstep. good imitative. been wanting to compile a site or something with products/creators who have printed/published something with the icon. I'm not quite tech savvy enough to make that work and not take up every waking moment of my day. but would be cool to see a weblink or something of folks's work.
It's available for EU countries! we haven't setup with the UK government yet for VAT collection, as you have to have someone live there represent you and register with their government? only option I've found is paying a rather large monthly fee just to sell books to folks across the ocean. We're in that weird zone where we don't sell/make enough copies to pay the rent/effort of warehouses in the UK/EU. It's not as simple to sell books across the world. Which is why we offer the full color print and play edition. I hear ya tho, wish it were easier to sell across the globe. the way VAT is collected is a little obnoxious frankly.
exactly! you always move to another tile. (but whatever, play as you wish, if you really wanted to stay on the same tile.
Also i thought about your starvation/sleep deprivation tracking comment and i've updated the character sheet. I'll post that soon. (tomorrow is my goal) added some little boxes folks can make a mark in to track how many days they've been inflicted. best with a pencil, but clever pen marks can work.
Thanks for your feedback! it all helps! we have a discord and a miru specific channel if you want a more immediate reply or wanna search some past questions. you can join by visiting www.hinokodo.com if that's your jam.
the floating lines for inventory is just for consistency within that box, wasn't sure what to do with the left column of lines. but stretching the lines to touch the walls of the other boxes, allows for a few more mm of space to write.
my intention for conditions like starvation and sleep deprivation (and later poisoning in M2+) are to be marked on the calendar portion of the character sheet. it's not explicitly said, i ran out of room on those pages, but the idea was to place a little mark or something on those dates you are inflicted, or to put a tally in anywhere you see fit, just for a visual reminder. they happen rarely enough, i didn't want to take away anymore space from the other components. Great question though, i'll look things over and see if i can find a way to work that in.
oh wow you're right, sorry! idk how i missed that. I'm not currently at my computer but when i can I will update the file I'll probably add a page with 8 backs on it so folks can print those out and slip em into sleeves or if they can line their printer paper up right print it on the back of each page I guess. I'll add it to the last page of the PDF, so folks can print say page 1 and 8 front and back let the printer line it up. That work ok?
I really should film a playthrough someday. The example given in the rules is a turn. The dice and their values used in the examples are shown through out the rules.
The example grid in rule 4 is a little wider than shown in the mini grids on the main pamphlet and i can see that throwing folks off. Once you have your dice layed out, you'll dot their heights on the mini grid and then use that in rule 5 to draw your lines on the big grid. But yeah i need to film an example someday.
The horizontal editions are best printed on 11x17 pages, (i know that's not a common size) but that's how professional printers would print it.
Otherwise, I'd suggest printing it one page at a time and stapling a corner. The old vertical edition was phased out. We've updated some rules and the presentation with the new editions. Last time I offered multiple options in the folder, it confused too many people.
I hope others feel like they can chime in.
My personal take is, if a human/team of people types up the code that generates something most people would consider 'art' then it's human made. I do think it's something of a grey area, as is all art. Is a banana taped to a wall art? It evokes a feeling for sure. are tools art in and of themselves? Is the printing press a work of art? a machine crafted by humans (for now) that helps people make works of art like books and posters, etc. are those later materials 'art'? Is the person who manufactures a machine like that an artist? it's all subjective and relative to different perspectives.
I think the intent with the human made is symbol is to be a stamp on works that were crafted by humans. That can take a lot of meanings, and people will push that boundary for sure. Ultimately it's intent is to mark things that were not made by AI/machine learning things. Up to the user and their audience I suppose to decide if something is worthy of that title. 'human made' The idea is intention. That might require the randomness that comes from the human body/mind vs an algorithm, even if a human penned it. idk tough call.
hi, sorry i realized after responding to your comment you were posting in an older update post.
The newest edition 2025, was posted a few weeks ago. If there's any physical copies of any older editions still out in the wild being sold, it's old stock. folks haven't gotten a physical copy since October or so. We're only selling the one version of MIRU and at this moment in time it's the most recent updated edition, 2025. The post your commenting on is an update post and these usually go out to everyone who's purchased the game in the past. it's the only way I think to really update folks on updates.
If you bought the first edition, you have access to the most recent edition. (2025)
oh wow!! Thank you for playing! I hope it's been fun!
It'll be a bit before they go to print (we have to wait until the Hex Kit gets made and delivered, since it's all part of a Kickstarter)
But we have the first miru on sale here:

I understand why other creators have them. I often see much higher digital/physical prices paired with free community copies.
I much prefer to have a lower 'actual' price that's the same for everyone. While everyone else is raising their digital prices to $15,$20+ I'm sticking with $5. I worked hard to make a piece of art, and I think it's fair to say artist should get paid for their work. It's ok if we differ on this opinion, for a much lower price of a movie ticket, I think $5 for MIRU offers many more hours of entertainment and it's a fair deal.
