this is an interesting approach to magic I haven't seen done before---the focus on memories specifically. it's neat
I also like the way the dynamic between the characters builds up
:( I really liked it. the character art is really cute. the story is sad. i can see a version of this story where the flashbacks are the same, but the future selves are different, where they have a happy ending... which really heightens the heartbreak. i also like the way it's written. forgive me if this is weird to say, but english-first-language writers sometimes fall into the same sentence structures and wordings, which gets dull. the wording here is different and refreshing. it made it more interesting to read.
oh, and heads up---during the second visit to Luce's apartment, there's a part where the two sprites are on top of each other and I can't see Pam's expressions. not sure if this was an accident, so i wanted to let you know
really amazing usage of the word "unsafe". (spoilers ahead)
girl get some non mint toothpaste!!! (this detail was really the cherry on top for her character btw. the viscerality it brings just pushes this VN above & beyond.)
most of all, i love the meta significance of this game as a part of the toxic yuri jam. it documents cultural context of (one reason) why it is so difficult to make 'toxic' works. it shares compelling arguments for toxic yuri's existence throughout---but it feels like it's trying to ground against sunny's conditioning, rather than trying to "win". yknow?
whoops just realized i need to Comment for it to be public. heres the review i wrote because i want You to know how good this game is:
uhhh this VN is amazing. these characters feel vividly like people i know. i love how the backgrounds fit with the repurposed assets. each character being in their own style works really well... it creates a world that feels big, and highlights the differences between them. and the narrator's voice/role is fascinating. i feel like this one is gonna stick around in my brain and i could write a full essay on it probably. i wish more art was like this
