I think that's a fair point. A small tutorial or a better introduction to the mechanics probably would have helped players understand what they were supposed to do.
I was trying to balance that with the jam's theme, but I can definitely see how it might have been confusing. I'm glad you enjoyed the idea and the combination system though!
