I think that's a great advice, I'll try to make the characters look more expressive.
I also thought on remaking their sprites (their faces) but first I  wanted to see if they would be accepted.
As for  adding romance/date routes.- since the story will be based on adventure/exploration 
therefore I am planning on adding companions/allies and there will be options to romance them. 
 And definitely the main character will have someone a la sidekick. I wonder if You'll like him.

All I can say for now is that this project will definitely contain nudity and mild bdsm elements.
But don't worry, I'm going to simultaneously make a second visual novel were most of the nsfw stuff will be,
including wg and rounded characters.

The feast themed cult is supposed to be one of the reasons
which pushes the main character to leave the village. It will depend on player choice
if You meet them or not. Since these characters are part of the world and not the plot.

But as for now it is more of an open project. So fell free to share Your idea
and I might reconsider the plot that it might better suit player choices.
