Y'know I probably did get a little carried away with the reverb 😅 it'll be something I come back to for sure.

Thanks for taking the time to listen :)

I think you have a nice grouping of ideas here that flow well together. I'd be curious to hear what it'd sound like if it had a little more time to develop.

Keep up the good work :)

This was a neat little track you've put together - I like the rhythmic patterns in the percussion quite a bit. Hopefully we'll get to hear another iteration of this that's a little more fleshed out.

Thanks for sharing, keep up the good work :)

Hey there - indeed I do! I record directly from the instrument, with a few physical effects in the signal.

Thanks for taking the time to listen :)

Thank you much!!! Thanks for taking the time to listen :)

Lovely pieces of music you've put together here. I liked your choice of instruments especially, I think it works well for this jam's theme.

Just an FYI, it looks like you exported your tracks from a looped region and they both cut off completely at the end. I would've personally preferred hearing them fade out organically. Bit of a nitpick, but I felt it was worth mentioning for future music.

Thanks for sharing what you've got, and keep up the good work :)

Ayyy thanks a ton, I appreciate it!!

Hey there, this a neat little submission you've put together. Both tracks fit the idea of background music quite nicely.

I think the vibe of your first track was excellent. I'd probably agree with some others that there's a bit of a harmonic clash between the bass and everything above it. Additionally, I personally think the bass is pushing through a little too much in the mix to the point that it can make other instruments harder to hear. I'd probably suggest reducing the bass volume so that the other instruments playing a more melodic role can better be heard. I may also consider trying to write some more noticeable variations in your melodies, which could help keep interest higher throughout the track.

What I enjoy most about your second track is the simplicity, both as an arrangement and as a composition. All of which makes for good background music. I think if I were to give you feedback here, I'd say to maybe try to work more with the dynamics. Especially in the instruments playing the melody, having that contrast between playing quietly and then playing louder can make the track feel a little more musical imo. Same could probably be said for some of the melodic instruments in the first track.

Thanks for sharing what you've made, and keep up the good work :)

Thank you! And thanks for taking the time to listen :)

Thank you much!! :)

Thanks a ton. I don't have a ton of range in my arrangements but I'd like to think I can write for guitars decently lol

Thanks for taking the time to listen :)

Lol I appreciate it - thank you :)

Hey there, this is a cool little track you've got here. I'd probably agree with others that it's a little on the quiet side. I know Garageband tends to bounce files out at a lower volume when I've used it in the past. I'd typically have to add some compression as well as a limiter to bring up that output volume to a reasonable level.

Thanks for sharing what you've got, and keep up the good work :)

These are some neat ideas you've put together, really wish there was more though lol. The whole thing otherwise feels well put together.

I think I would've preferred that you have the music fade out or come to an end more organically than just cutting off altogether.

Thanks for sharing, and keep up the good work :)

Hey there, so I have a little bit of feedback for you. My two cents.

The first piece is that I think the overall balance of the instruments could be improved on. Right now the piano sounds almost muted and the xylophone (bells? whichever that higher pitched instrument is) seems quite bright to my ears. And it all feels a little cluttered in the middle which makes it difficult to hear the different elements of the track. Making another effort at balancing I think will help mitigate some of these issues. Adjusting their respective volume, EQ, or panning the instruments away from each other is probably where I'd suggest to start.

I'd also suggest a little more reverb and delay overall to help fill out that otherwise empty space.

Thanks for sharing what you've made, hopefully you continue to improve what you have and keep up the good work :)

This was lovely - I especially like your choice of harmony, as others have pointed out. It's quite fitting for the jam's theme but also works tonally for what the title implies.

I think if I were to give you some feedback, I'd suggest trying to have a little bit more of a "singable" melody from your flutes or whichever lead instruments you choose. Right now it revolves quite a bit on quarter notes on the downbeat - maybe next time try throwing in some different rhythms or starting/emphasizing notes on the upbeat instead. I think it'll add some nice changes and interest in the melody and allow you to better emphasize an idea or a vibe you're going for.

Thanks for sharing what you've made, and keep up the good work :)

This is a lovely little peace that I think fits the theme quite nicely. I especially liked the duet section at the end.

My feedback - while I like the way you wrote the melody, I think adding in more variation in the dynamics of their instruments would've helped this a bit. I think this track as a whole could use a bit of variation in that regard. For the most part this sounded like the lead instruments were playing at the same volume/intensity, which to my ears is not quite as musical as it could be. For example, you could have the instrument crescendo when rising in pitch and decrescendo when lowering in pitch. And something similar for the other instruments in the duet section.

Thanks for sharing what you made, keep up the good work :)

It's cool to see devs branching out into music - I think for no prior experience this was a good submission.

If you plan on continuing making your own music I'd suggest looking into writing variations on a theme. Since you've established a few melodic ideas in each of your tracks I think finding ways to make small changes to them (either in the melody itself, the underlying harmony, etc.) will add a nice bit of variety in the music and help you further develop the ideas you've already got.

Thanks for sharing this, and keep up the good work :)

That's awesome dude. I actually think about stuff like that quite a bit when I'm writing or improvising - guitar music can be pretty good at capturing the melancholy and the bittersweet in a way that's not quite the same as other instruments IMO.

Thanks for sharing and taking the time to listen :)

Omg thanks a ton!! I'm honored!

Thanks for taking the time to listen :)

Hey there! I really appreciate it!

I've been really making an effort these past couple of months to improve my production skills, so this comment was especially nice to read.

Thanks for listening :)

Thanks a ton! And thank you for listening :)

Ayy I appreciate it! Thanks for listening :)

Cool little track, would've really liked to have heard a little more and see how you develop your ideas.

Keep up the good work :)

Cool to see another guitar player!

I think my main peace of feedback has more to do with the actual performance vs anything technical. The ideas you presented here are potentially pretty interesting (don't know if there was enough for me to say either way), but I also think the execution of those ideas could be improved on. And I think that just comes with practice and finding ways to play the parts that feels a little more fluent. It takes time to get good at this, I still have to work on this a lot after several years of playing the instrument!

Hopefully you continue developing the ideas you've got here, keep up the good work :)

Hey there! This was a neat little peace. The harmony especially feels fitting for this jam's theme.

My feedback - I like the melody in that higher range, but I think the track as a whole is a bit too bright for my ears. Maybe consider making some subtle reductions in those higher frequencies so that there's a little more balance in the mix. At least enough to take some of the sharpness out of those instruments.

Thanks for sharing, and keep up the good work :)

There were some neat ideas in this little track!

I really wish there was more to listen to though - I think there's a lot you could do with this. Hopefully we'll see them someday.

Hey there! Some cool sounds you've got in this track. I always like the wobbly, tape-like sounds of some VST's. I also like the way you bring in layers in the track and build off that initial idea over time.

My main feedback is that the high-pitched instruments seem to clash with each other a bit and seem to have a bit of a distorting sound to them (somewhere between 40 seconds and 1 minute into the track) that's a little unpleasant to my ears. I think reducing any distortion or saturation parameters and moving them away from center in the mix may help clean this up.

Thanks for sharing what you've got, and keep up the good work :)

Is there an audio file somewhere?

Both the itch page and this submission page are empty.

Hey there! Quite a bit of neat stuff in this submission, especially in Winter Break.

My feedback to you - I think with regards to the theme, I'd say that the music overall is a little too "involved" to be background music IMO. I'd say this probably stems from the fact that the drums are pretty prominent in the music. Not necessarily a bad thing, just maybe not appropriate for the theme. I think some of the repetition in the harmony helped ease that a little bit.

Thanks for sharing what you've made, keep up the good work :)

Appreciate you taking suggestions!

I've been playing a ton of  Halo Infinite and No Man's Sky lately and would like to add their soundtracks to the list!

Hello! If anyone is still in need of someone to take care of the music, I'm available and looking to help!

I've been on Itch for a little over a year now and have participated in numerous music/game jams of all kinds. Primarily I focus on guitar-based ambient and rock music. Here you can find a small playlist of my most recent work, and here you can find my work on previous game jams.

Please feel free to ping me here or on Discord ('grunt._55644') if you think what I do could work for your project :)

P.S. I'm in EST timezone. Also I've been practicing sound design lately so I'd be able to help with that if necessary.

A lot of cool stuff in this submission! Even though the last two tracks are not something I regularly listen to stylistically I can appreciate the effort that went into putting these together. There was never a dull moment or instances where things felt static.

Based on my own personal taste I think I listened to these first two tracks the most. I really like how you moved away from the drum machine and filled the space with all sorts of different textures and ambience that meshed so nicely together. And then having the more rhythmic instruments come in on Reflective, in addition to what feels like an odd time signature, was a lovely pairing. For me this was my favorite track of this submission.

If I had to give any kind of feedback here, it would be that the bell sounds in your final track overstayed their welcome IMO. I think I would've preferred their final exit in the track be at that ~1:53 mark where they first drop out.

Thanks for sharing this, and keep up the good work :)

For this submission I had a few goals in mind:

1.) Try out some new software. In this case - Logic Pro.

2.) Explore different sounds & instruments in each track while maintaining a sense of cohesiveness.

3.) Try out different production/mixing ideas on each track.

This small collection of untitled pieces of music is the result when pursuing these goals. While I didn't get to all of the material I was hoping to finish, I was able to get most of it complete with at least a decent mix. I'm also planning to re-release these tracks alongside some other music later this year as a more polished and complete album, so any and all feedback that can eventually be incorporated into other tracks is greatly appreciated.

Thank you, sincerely, for such a kind comment!

I do feel like I've been getting better as well, even if it's in small increments.  These jams have been a huge part of my improvements in every way, and I can't wait to come back for more!

I also appreciate you leaving feedback. Just for my curiosity, does making something punchier have more to do with EQ? Compression? Both, or something else entirely?  While I can't do much about vocals I would like to keep getting better at writing and mixing drums/percussion parts!

Thanks again, good sir! :)

Thank you a ton! Explosions is actually one of my favorites, so I'm glad that influence comes through in my work.

Thanks a ton for listening :)

Thank you a ton, Einel!!

And thanks for leaving feedback as well. Yeah I'd probably agree with what you said here. I think I originally had the sections a little more balanced volume- and dynamics-wise, but I was worried that the effect wouldn't be as impactful. That second point is an interesting idea, hadn't thought about that before. I'll give that a try next jam.

Thanks for taking the time to listen :)

That is so so kind of you - I sincerely appreciate you taking the time not only to listen to my work but also leave such a wonderful comment :)
