Yes, in the past, I have been able to collect the reward.  I've had the balrog achievement for some time.

I just played through the elite enemies challenge.  At the end of dungeon 4, I was able to kill a single balrog (it was the only creature left) and collect the experience.  At the end of level 5, two balrogs remained.  A single Rain of Fire killed both.  I was able to collect one, but not the other.  When I try to collect the second, a buzzer noise plays.  I tried several times, cast Rain of Fire again, etc.  No success.

I *think* that I had revealed the collectible balrog with a bloodrose potion, and that the uncollectible balrog was just a square I had marked 300.  So that may be worth checking.

I checked the enemy list scroll and it showed x1 balrog.  This screenshot shows the uncollectible one

Here's a list of what I was carrying at the time of the error:

2 bloodrose potions, 1 rain of fire, 1 dice, 1 nature's sight, 1 bounty

2 lunar pin, 1 copper coin, 1 credit card, 1 vampire fangs, 1 egg, 5 gold coin, 1 fairie bait, 1 topaz amulet, 1 claymancy, 1 superior flute, 1 lich detector, 1 abacus, 3 silver coin, 1 reroll card, 2 chest detector, 1 gloves of healing, 1 treasure map, 1 candle, 1 bat bait, 1 meat grinder, 1 rat detector, 1 wishing well, 1 brick detector, 2 lantern, 1 crystal ball, 1 campfire, 1 pickaxe, 1 spiritual tattoos

Heya Christian, I've been playing the Flagellation Challenge.  The number of sacrificial whips is correct now, thanks!

A couple of things:  I was able to destroy Balrogs with Rain of Fire, but I was not able to collect the experience reward afterward.  They just remained as Balrogs with a red X and a numerical experience value  over them.  Clicking them did nothing.  This happened 3 times, each with different Rain of Fire spells.  In the initial case, the Balrog was the last remaining enemy (so the Rain of Fire only had one enemy available to kill rather than 3).  The following Balrogs were on the next level.

Also, the game gave me a lot of healing potions.  The second dungeon started me with 3, the third gave me 6, the fourth 9, and the last 12.  Maybe some item was meant to start me with a healing potion and they kept stacking.  Unsure if you intended this.

I played the first dungeon of the challenge before your last update, and the other four afterwards.  Just mentioning in case that had some effect.  Excellent game, thanks.

The three sacrificial whips in a challenge become one sacrificial whip on the second level of the challenge.  I did stop after the first level and load the second level later-- unsure if this is relevant.

Same error here, same fix.  Thanks.

That was a quick fix, thanks.

And I have no complaints; I enjoyed playing.  Best of luck with the game!

You can see the crystal ball just beneath my cash display.  It bounced out to the right. The game doesn't consider this drop to be complete, and so it won't let me begin another drop.  I can use cash drop, but the jackpot bins and special pegs don't reset.

Enjoyable game, though.  Nicely done.

Hello again.  I played through v46 successfully.

I tried v47 and the well problem I mentioned earlier seems to be gone.  Thanks and well done.

Village well.  I turned on my system monitor and returned to a well.  Elsewhere in the game, I can just alt-tab between the game and the monitor normally.  If I alt-tab out of the well screen, my system rapidly (many, many times a second) flashes between the monitor and the game until I alt-tab back to the game.

The framerate reported in the upper left corner of the game is typically 60 fps.  It dips to 48 when on the well screen.

Excellent that you're still working on this.

I've run into a couple of things:  One, visiting any well makes my fans go to maximum within moments; leaving the well screen promptly relieves this and my machine returns to the default quiet noise level.  I suspect it's to do with the foreground layered over a blurred background.  I can reliably reproduce this.

Two, I've visited and revisited every part of a level 5 forest in the corrupted region, and I have completed all (visible) actions there (combats, chests).  The overworld map still lists it as "area incomplete".

Excellent fun.  Your website mentions you enjoy giving talks about game design.  I hope you plan to discuss this game at some point; I think it would be super interesting.

I enjoyed this, thank you.

Attractive game.  Initially, I had two letters active at once, perhaps one ground tile letter and one decoration letter.  Soon, though, only the ground tile letters appeared.  When I pressed F to teleport between letters, the map would move, so I figure the decoration letter was hidden under something.  Moved a few things around looking for it but no luck.

That's a massive amount of work.   Handsomely done.

I haven't tried this newest version yet, but having chugged through the changelog, I look forward to doing so.

No rush.  I've enjoyed what I played.  I look forward to seeing what you add next.

Thanks for the quick response!

Excellent fun, thank you.

[slight spolier below]

But I'm a bit confused.  I bought the game yesterday and played through to what I thought might be the end (cleared the fiery circle location, beating all the enemies there) but then nothing happened.  No prize, no message.  Just an empty altar .   There is one change: the city now gives me the option to leave the island.  The "explore" option is still unavailable, though.  I hesitate to leave in case I've missed something.  Do I need to clear all the locations on the map?

edit:

The battles were straightforward but the statues threw me a bit: DELFS, IDIGBO, TITTLE.  Also, the statues don't reveal what the word was if you didn't get it  It was fun to try to guess them all the same.

Is the cleansing wand broken now?  Tried it several times against a blademaster (7 spikes, 3 regen) and it did nothing.

If an enemy has the spikes buff, and you attack with a weapon that causes both regular damage plus vampirism, the spike buff will damage you twice.  This may be intentional.  It pretty well clobbered me.

Nifty game!

My final move took me from 84 to 106 points.  It could be that the rank is mistakenly calculated on the second-to-last move?

It's a small thing.  The game is excellent fun, well done.
