Excellent that you're still working on this.

I've run into a couple of things:  One, visiting any well makes my fans go to maximum within moments; leaving the well screen promptly relieves this and my machine returns to the default quiet noise level.  I suspect it's to do with the foreground layered over a blurred background.  I can reliably reproduce this.

Two, I've visited and revisited every part of a level 5 forest in the corrupted region, and I have completed all (visible) actions there (combats, chests).  The overworld map still lists it as "area incomplete".

Wishing well or village well? I could see that maybe on a wishing well but they aren't supposed to have a blurry background, and the village water well blurry background renders once then stores the result. On my setup it naturally caps the framerate, so it's probably related to an individual setup not capping it.

The forest not completing is probably a missing check or trigger my end. I'll look into it although it's not vital for progression.

Village well.  I turned on my system monitor and returned to a well.  Elsewhere in the game, I can just alt-tab between the game and the monitor normally.  If I alt-tab out of the well screen, my system rapidly (many, many times a second) flashes between the monitor and the game until I alt-tab back to the game.

The framerate reported in the upper left corner of the game is typically 60 fps.  It dips to 48 when on the well screen.

I've done a rework of how it does the background of those screens. That should hopefully deal with it. I'll likely be releasing it tomorrow or the day after depending on how much time I get to finish a few other things in this hotfix tomorrow, since I've still to look at the corrupt forest issue.
