(4-Month Full Game Project | Weekly Stipend + Revenue Share | Remote | Indie Narrative Game)
We're looking for passionate, adaptable artists for Symbiosis, a psychological horror 2.5D side-scrolling narrative-driven walking simulator with light platforming elements. The game explores themes of isolation, healing, and cosmic horror, inspired by works like Limbo, Inside, Hollow Knight, The Thing, and Annihilation.
This is a full 4-month commitment. No demos, just a complete game experience. We need multiple artists who are versatile and willing to learn and grow with the team.
About the Project:
Symbiosis is a psychological, narrative-driven 2.5D walking simulator with light platforming elements, exploring themes of isolation, healing, and connection.
Core Theme - Loneliness distorts our perception of reality. Healing begins when we change how we see ourselves and others.
This isn’t just about the monsters; it’s about the mind unraveling and finding new meaning in what’s been lost.
In the game, the protagonist's fractured perception turns the people around him into distorted, monstrous “parasites.” These aren’t literal creatures, but a reflection of his emotional isolation. The journey isn't about destroying the monsters, but about understanding them, transforming from fear to clarity and finding connection in a seemingly disconnected world.
We aim to craft a deeply emotional experience, blending psychological and metaphorical horror with a hopeful narrative of growth through a nightmare. The world itself will mirror the protagonist's internal struggles, with shifts in perception serving as key gameplay mechanics. The art will evolve alongside the protagonist, reflecting his transformation through unique visual and audio design.
We’re looking for passionate artists and creatives who are willing to join a 4-month commitment with a 6 hour per week absolute minimum, contributing to a meaningful, atmospheric experience. If you're excited by the idea of blending narrative depth with surreal environments, we want you to be a part of our team.
The Role:
We are seeking several artists who are adaptable, proficient, and passionate about creating unique worlds that reflect the protagonist's psychological journey. The game’s visual style is primarily a blend of 2D pixel art and 3D claymation, with a focus on emotional storytelling and artistic cohesion. We need artists who can create evocative environments, characters, and assets that align with this vision.
Compensation:
The project is currently being self-funded. While we are unable to offer full compensation up front, we are providing a minimum of $10 USD a week during development, along with a guaranteed split of $1000 USD among the team upon completion delivered via CashApp or Venmo. Additionally, everyone will receive an equal share of the revenue from sales once the game is released. We are committed to ensuring the success of the game and providing fair compensation once the studio is financially stable.
