Hey everyone! 👋
I’ve been working on an open-source project called Room Engine and wanted to share it with the itch.io developer community.
If you’re building multiplayer HTML5/Web games—especially for Discord Embedded App Activities—you know that managing room lifecycles, player states, and real-time synchronization can quickly become a hassle. Room Engine is designed to solve exactly that!
🚀 What is Room Engine?
Room Engine is a high-performance, lightweight backend service built with Java & Spring Boot over WebSockets. It handles the core multiplayer room mechanics out of the box so you can focus entirely on your game logic and client-side design.
Key Features:
- 🎮 Discord Activities Ready: Built with seamless Discord Embedded App integrations in mind.
- ⚡ Real-Time WebSocket Sync: Low-latency player state synchronization and event broadcasting.
- 🏠 Room Lifecycle Management: Automatic room creation, matchmaking/join codes, dynamic player limit handling, and automatic cleanup on empty rooms.
- 📦 Out-of-the-box Setup: Easy to run locally or deploy to cloud servers with minimal configuration.

###💬 Feedback Welcome! Since this is an early open-source release (v1.0.0), I’d love to get feedback from fellow devs:
- What multiplayer features or protocol wrappers would you like to see next?
- Are you building any Discord Activities or Web Games where this might fit your architecture?
Feel free to check out the repo, star it if you find it useful, or drop your thoughts/questions below! Happy game dev! 🛠️🕹️
