@spookysoulgeek

If you actually played the game and want to point out what you believe to be "AI slop", we would genuinely love to hear it so we can address it. However, dismissing human-made art and writing just because a technical engine uses NLP feels like a misunderstanding of what the game actually is.

The team includes human developers, artists, game designer and writers who built this from ground up.

When talking with the characters, programming techniques, like string search algorithms, are used to match against the scripts of each character, and the AI is used as a fallback mechanism, so that if you type something unexpected, you get an in-character response based on the human written background and characters knowledge base, rather than a frustrating "I don't understand that" from old school parser games.

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to test the game.

Hey everyone!

After 3 years of solo development, I am excited to share Folio Detective, an interactive horror mystery game born from a goal to build a bridge between classic literature and video games.

Play directly in your browser: https://pmakersgames.itch.io/folio-detective

  • Inspired by classic horror literature, the first case is set in the dark, atmospheric streets of 1840s Paris. Folio Detective lets you step into the shoes of an investigator. Instead of selecting pre-written dialogue options, you must type your own questions to interrogate suspects, analyze evidence, and solve a gruesome mystery.

    Key Features:

    • Type-to-Interrogate Mechanics: Ask suspects whatever you want—they respond dynamically to your specific lines of questioning.
    • Classic Gothic Vibe: Hand-crafted atmospheric art and a haunting soundtrack.
    • Content Creator Friendly: Monetization on YouTube/Twitch is completely allowed, and all music is commercially licensed and safe for streams (no copyright strikes).

    Available now directly in your browser here on itch.io, as well as on Android via Google Play!

    I'd love to hear your thoughts, feedback, and how quickly you manage to catch the suspect. Thank you for supporting solo indie development!
