I thought it sounded familiar!

lol I couldn't do it! I was really mashing that shit. I was using both hands. I was a menace. nevertheless, I could not persevere, and I guess that's a metaphor for life with depression!

thank you for your thoughtful review :’) so glad you enjoyed our game!

hey friend! thanks so much for the kind words! I’m happy you enjoyed it. the evolving journal entries was an element I had planned very early on in the game’s development and I’m glad it was so effective!

the third minigame was actually supposed to be a game, but we ran out of time in the end and put the “choose the final piece!” game in as a placeholder essentially. definitely see how it’s confusing, and hoping to update for future releases.

loved your game too btw, I’m going to play it again when I get home lol

yo! finally got around to checking out your game. I love the sketchbook looking art style! I'm having so much trouble getting past the spacebar get out of bed quest, I keep getting a Game Over screen for button mashing. will report back when successful. I am intrigued and determined

I had so much fun playing this! the dialogue is so humorous and well crafted. the character portraits, dialogue box, and animal crossing-esque dialogue blips add nice polish to the game. the gameplay is super straightforward and fun and the characters are so cute! I was so bad at the flappy bird game lmao. I could spend hours playing this tbh. the music fits the medieval fairytale vibe perfectly as well. this is so impressive for a 2 week jam! also that door sound effect is tasty

voice acting is super cool! awesome hook, really sucks the player in immediately.  love the stylized 2.5D look as well. and the MUSIC! so good! shoutout to your composer fr, it's so atmospheric and well done.

just so you know: for some reason, the music isn't looping for me in the web version.

cool game! I wish the controls/gameplay instructions were written in the game itself, or there was a tutorial level, bc I was very confused until I read the description. this was fun, and very challenging at times. highly replay-able too! awesome work

broooo that soundtrack 🔥🔥🔥 reminds me of super mario 64 (esp. since this is a 3D platformer), or the nintendogs competition music lmao. something you should know, the music didn't loop for me! I wish it did bc I was jammin.

the gameplay was a bit of a learning curve. it wasn't obvious to me what I was supposed to do right away, and the controls don't feel the most intuitive. moving with WASD, using the mouse to control the camera, and jumping with the spacebar feels off for some reason (I guess since there's so much coordination required in the player's left hand). I didn't progress much unfortunately.

this game hooked me immediately. playing therapist is real and I've been in that situation many times. I managed to reach 10 pretty quickly, but it's definitely a challenge to pick the right answer every time. loving the lo-fi soundtrack and the character design, too.

at some point i scrolled or something and the perspective shifted to this lmao, I cannot figure out what I did.

the character and world design in this game is so nice, and the music is peaceful! the tutorial stages are very accessible and I got the hang of the controls quickly. this is a fun spin on a platformer, with challenging puzzles along the way. boss battle was challenging too!

really cool game! love the cross between 2D and 3D design, and the way the tutorial is presented is very accessible. I liked the music and the gameplay was challenging yet fun.

this game is so cute and well done! I love the concept, something we all struggle with in the digital age lmao. this was fun, sfx are neat, and I love the animations.

such a cute and unique concept! I really like this take on the theme, it stands apart from other games. the web build glitched out on me a few times and I had to reload, but other than that, I had fun with this one!

this game is nicely designed and user friendly! I appreciate the "how to play" tab on the title screen, otherwise idk if I would have been able to figure out the controls intuitively. dialogue was well written as well!

thank you for playing & for the review!!

thanks so much for checking it out! :)

thank you for playing & for your thoughtful review!

thank you for playing!!

agree, the design reminds me of calico desert/skull cavern lol

I had a lot of fun playing this! the little robot is so cute, and I found the gameplay both fun and moderately challenging. the sfx were cool too! I like your take on renewal, very creative. I wish there was music from the beginning, it would enhance the experience!

this game is so peaceful. love the muted color palette, the minimalist pixel art, and the sparse, somber, vibey soundtrack. I also love how the soundtrack becomes more intricate as the protagonist finds their confidence; that's a very clever touch! the narrative is relatable and touching; I really felt for the protagonist, and their desire to take on a more free-spirited and artistic approach to fishing. the stakes are high at this fishing school lol. feels like an allegory for how small we are, and the desire to enjoy a slower pace of life. great work, I would 100% play a more developed version of this!

also I want to catch a doughfish

aaaa that is so nice, thank you for playing :)

lol, it took me a few tries to figure out what I was supposed to be doing. I like the implementation of the shop for buffs. I died every time. it might be helpful to include brief gameplay instructions in the options menu.

thanks so much! so glad you enjoyed the story!

so fun and cute! love the art and the chiptune soundtrack, it feels very classic. would be cool if you added a leaderboard down the line. RIP flappy bird lol

I have a special place in my heart for Twine games because they're a blank slate; the opportunities are endless with them! this game is so imaginative, the music is lovely, and the narrative is branching, dynamic, and interesting. I love the way you approached "unlocking" memories to unveil more of the story.

the music fits the vibe so well! so ominous. love the concept of renewing a permit, reminds me of being stuck at the DMV. I love the cross between 2D and 3D, and the timed gameplay paired with the sped up music gave me anxiety lol. I also liked the level design for the 3D bit, the house was so eccentric and creepy. really fun, and a creative spin on the theme!

I adore the cartoonish art style. The world is lovely, the music is exciting, and the gameplay is simple and fun.

this game is adorable! fun gameplay, and I like the art :)

this is such a cute concept! the game is so neatly packaged, from the art style to the soundtrack. game mechanics were easy, straightforward, and enjoyable. I can definitely see this being built up into a larger game.

awesome! I'll definitely give it another playthrough :)

the storytelling in this game is so unique and creative! really enjoyed the voice acting & the haunting sound design.

this game is funny, anxiety-inducing, and rewarding. the music paired with the timer and wacky waving goblin arms made my cortisol spike instantly. the art is quirky and stylized, and the gameplay is very fun!

this game is so simple and yet visually stunning. I love the color palette (I am a sucker for rust lol). music is crisp, gameplay is fun and fairly challenging, art style reminds me of a radiohead record. wasn't expecting to take fall damage, oof! and some of those curves are tough to maneuver. the snow particles are a nice immersive touch, too.

Thanks for checking it out! :)

not embarrassing at all; this is so incredibly thoughtful and flattering! your interpretation of the text is illuminating and beautifully written, and I am so relieved my intentions behind the narrative came across. thank you for taking the time to write this, and for soaking in the story in such a profound way :) immediately bookmarked your blog so I can consume more of your words!

I loved the feel of this game! Gameplay reminded me of unpacking, but with a memorization element to it, which upped the challenge. The art style and color palette is very nostalgic and comforting; the chibi pixel-art, accompanied by the chiptune soundtrack, reminds me of older Pokémon games. I was really blown away by some of the art, it's so detailed and warm.

Something you should know, and I'm not sure if it's due to my browser (I'm in Chrome), but the dialogue fell out of the dialogue box for me even in full screen, which hindered my gameplay experience as much of the text was obstructed. Sad because I really wanted to take in the story!

Edit: I just replayed after the dialogue box bug fix, such a touching narrative. really great work :)

I still find myself returning to this game to this day. it's so good and so criminally underrated. my partner and i love it lol

you must persevere! the narrative payoff is so worth it
