Beautiful sound design and graphics - I don't know if I've ever seen a similar card-based interrogation mechanic before, very creative!

Understood, thanks for the reply again!

Thank you for the feedback!

Thank you for the feedback. I can see that you left comment really quickly, right after you saw my respond under the community post. My game is a bit longer to beat than 5 minutes, but I really hope you actually played the game :)

Here: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-16/rate/4949697 - Papers please inspired bouncer simulator.

1,000 seems like a lot - good luck!

Thats my Paper's please inspired game: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-16/rate/4949697

That was exactly what I was aiming for: the club music, simple sound effects for the dialogue box.
I am not the best soud desiner, had very limited time and the GAME told me not to do it.
At first I gave it a shot,  downloaded bosca ceoil, tried to make some music. I put 3 notes on the sheet and then the app simply crashed.
I uninstalled it and came back to bugfixing.

I have the same feeling about some comments. Personally think that might be very compressed way to say "Hello I am here, I rated your game, It would be great if you could see and rate mine game too" despite not even playing it. I sometimes catch myself making a somewhat forced comment, hoping for "returning the favor". But speaking for myself I always comment games that I finished or just simply had fun  - thats the main goal of the games after all.

I saw your post, what a hidden gem-game. Great fitting theme, very polished, creative and super fun. I probably come back and will try to improve the score. But I think the top 3 are out of reach for me.

Fits the theme well, has good graphics and is replayable. Nice game!

Papers please inspired game with a few different endings: BOUNCER
Hope you like it!

Good game, could be longer :)

Man i love spreading desinformation, what a creative idea!
F for the Cactus...

At the start of the game jam, I had a pretty similar idea (story during playing cards), but I ended up switching to Papers Please style. Maybe that turned out to be for the best, because I doubt I would have been able to pull off a game of similar quality.

Very creative idea! Being able to go back to previous commands by pressing the up arrow or using the Tab key for autocomplete would add even more charm to the game, just like in a real terminal. I really liked the game!

By the way, how did you find my game? Through a post or the GameJam homepage? I’d like to know because I really want to get those required 20 ratings (I’d like to see how my game stacks up against the others) without flooding the community board with “R for R” posts, and if just being patient is the solution, I’m happy to do that. :)

I'm glad you like the game!

Due to a lack of time (and skill, definitely skill) on my part, the graphics I created were sloppy. I decided to embrace my sloppy style and actually found a certain charm in it, but I’m not proud of it.

I am really happy to hear that!

I'm also upset about the lack of audio. I'd really like to remake this prototype into a proper game with full sound in the future.

Thanks! You are right, good sound effects and music would definitely improve the game's overall atmosphere, but I'm not the best sound designer and I didn't have much time, so Instead of taking a risk I decided to focus on balancing and bug fixes.

Thank you for the comment, I am really happy to hear that!

The game fits the theme very well. I like its simple gameplay and its consistent visual style.

One of a kind!

Here's mine, the Papers Please inspired game: BOUNCER

Honestly, I do not remember.  Now I tried to reproduce it but I can't, the string just seems pretty buggy. It happend after the basketball appeared.

Fun short game, nice graphics and very simple but working suprisingly well gameloop.

Papers please variation with couple endings and paint-pixel graphics: BOUNCER

I was trying to connect the "suspects" with the string and a got a lot of errors one by one.

The wanted bar should be smaller and moved to the bottom, transparent or displayed next to the player,  besides that very satisfying animations, smooth gameplay and nice graphics, I really liked it!

I had fun! even despite being a bit colorblind. The only issue are the npc's they like to stack in one place a lot and its really hard sometimes to get to the king.

Hello, I made game inspired by Papers Please. The gameloop is very similar but it rewards the player in different way than the inspiration.
Also there are multiple endings with the "secret" one.  BOUNCER

Thank you for the comment, I am happy that you liked it!
I'd love to but had no time to add the sound effects.

Definitely one of the best games I've played so far at a game jam, I "wasted" about an hour, playing trying to reach top 1!

Honestly, i think thats the best game i played so far during the gamejam. it's really fun to play, have very solid visuals, sound and fits in the theme perfectly. I just hope you get more rates by people.
Great game!

Thanks for the review, I'm glad you liked the game. I'll definitely check out yours!

Collisions causing player to rotate were scary, on the second to last level. I really liked the hidden depth in  the game.

So far, I've only received 5 reviews. On the one hand, spamming links in posts isn't in line with my philosophy, on the other hand, it seems like the only way to get those  at least 20–30 reviews.
Thank you for the feedback about the game, for sure I am gonna check yours

It saddens me to see such a polished post get buried under “Rate for rate” posts. That’s exactly what I had in mind when I wrote this one.
On the one hand, I understand - especially younger or newbie game devs (like me) who are trying to attract players, on the other hand, I fully get the frustration of someone who spent a ton of time on a post only to have it pushed into the abyss by a ruthless army of 20 “Rate4Rate” warriors.  I have idea if thats the standard of the gamejam community board and wondering if there's any way to balance this out.

I had really good time playing, the game crashed on case 3 several times but i really liked it!
