Hi everyone — we work on PetPal Desktop, a small Tauri client that displays an animated companion in a transparent desktop window. The public client and a test pet are now available on itch.io.

There are existing Mac Apple Silicon, Mac Intel, and Windows builds, plus a separate ZIP containing instructions and standard-mochi.petpet. This sample is a simple illustrated cat for testing import and playback. Open the tray/menu-bar menu, choose Import .petpet, and select the sample. The client also offers visibility and click-through controls.
The screenshot below shows a separate custom pet in the native client; that realistic asset is not included in the free cartoon sample. These are early builds, with OS compatibility and macOS notarization not fully verified. The project page includes setup notes and the MIT-licensed source.
PetPal Studio separately provides paid AI generation from pet photos. Payment unlocks the generated preview; the private package becomes available when ready. A custom order is not needed to try this public client and sample.
