The way the dialogue subtly guides you is definitely a good core aspect. None of the steps are far-fetched and everything logically follows each other. The way the cat moves, guiding the focus onto different parts of the room with the next action makes it quite easy, as there isn't a lot of variation that can be done, but it's better than clicking for some obscure hidden secret, It's pretty short and relaxing, won't melt anyones brain, kinda chill.
The linear structure kills any rpg elements this game could鈥檝e used. Mainly because the game forces you down a single path and throws enemies at you almost every time, no branching choices or any meaningful actions you鈥檇 expect from a game of this genre. Well, there are certain choices, but they don't amount to anything, it either throws you into a forced encounter or allows you to go on to reach the next area with the eventual next forced encounter. Really just feels more like a bandit beater.
Adding 2 ways to defeat enemies is basically just an illusion of choice, you just figure out which defeats them faster and remember it later down the line. Doesn't add enough difference to the main gameplay.
Although it is true that the combat is going to have a lot more nuance with the 3 outfits you unlock later on with differing uses (at the end of the demo...), it still doesn't fix the problem that this game has nothing for you to do other than battle and grind for better stats
The enemy mechanics to differentiate them are also quite lacking, making almost every repeated encounter a stat check with minimal strategy or logic, there is some, but it doesn't really amount to anything, since a majority of the fights are still stat checks.
The health and will regen options also don't change the gameplay in any meaningful way, essentially just being free heals if the stat check fights go badly.
This is more like a linear battle experience, failing to be a reactive rpg.
The game does a lot of interesting changes deviating from average games, which is mainly what brought it so much attention. I wont get into the positives, but the thing that i just can't stand are modifiers that make everything more blurrier and darker. I'd need to completely focus on every single part with my eyes, causing fatigue in them, and i'm not willing to turn up gamma even if its in the settings, which would further strain my eyes, making nothing better. This is one of those mechanics that are best left out for general QOL, even if it may seem to spice things up for replayability.
This game uses telekinesis as a vehiculatory mechanic way too aggressively in later missions and segments. Needing you to clunkily yeet yourself into unknown areas directly into enemies sights to progress the stage or to kill that one random hidden enemy, almost always leading to death since you're so vulnerable mid-air unless you got that one furry. Especially with how unstable the pushing/pulling is, you'll likely just take half your healthbar off from landing too hard or falling into some pit and dying pathetically. Using it for combat is fine tho.
From a gameplay perspective, the upgrade that increases your max stamina is way too costly for the return it gives. Essentially it's +2 stamina every time you sleep. The problem with that is that you can just buy tea for 2 coins instead, or forage some berries, both of which are better options and they can be consumed anywhere. Ofc when there are more areas the stamina is also going to get a way bigger purpose, needing a larger base capacity to do stuff. Just saying that rn there isn't really a point in getting it with how short this demo is.
Honestly, this game's general direction and gameplay is quite strange to say the least. It obviously tries to market itself as a porn game where you sneak in on yo roomate and use the cam on her. But the thing is is that the gameplay completly goes against that.
First of all, throughout the entire game, the camera mechanic generally serves as a massive blockade to your actual progress. This is mainly because making money this way is absolutely horrendous, and there are many other actions that you can do that yield way more money. Let's not even talk about the wednesday only shipping with the measly points you earn... further complicating an already hard system.
In fact, it's way easier to just ignore the main selling point of the game when progressing. Just go jogging and work at a store, you can do everything this way, you don't even need to film your roommate once (which is an absolute pain early game, and even mid-game, only getting better when you have a gazillion camera upgrades, so you can do things actually substantively but at that point you essentially completed the game.) The main point i'm trying to make is how counter-intuitive this is. Different game mechanics and actions are supposed to help out other mechanics so you can progress in different directions (eg: jogging increases stamina, and with stamina you can film more (this part is correct, but filming is once again useless)) The whole point of having multiple different game mechanics is making them interconnected and dependend on each other in a sense. But filming your roommate (again, the main point of the game) Does absolutely nothing for progression, or other mechanics in general. You don't unlock anything important from it, in fact you actively lose stuff, especially early-game, where you dont even have time and you constantly lose relationship points cuz you can barely get her dressed back, also having to restart a gazillion times cuz she constantly wakes up too, losing your irl time too. (When you have a bunch of supporting upgrades end-game it gets easier, but until then, it's absolutely useless.)
Okay, so to say it clearly, you can only use it for porn, not for actual gameplay, since everything can be done faster and easier on other ways, which is quite interesting, considering how much of the game and story revolves around it.
Yeah, you're right, i got it figured out bro, i also completed the game as far as the current update allows. It's not neccesarily the fact that it's so incomprehensible, but moreso that the general confusion could easily be removed by instead putting an energy bar instead of a battery there, or just showing the stamina numbers themselves, since there's no reason it can't be done, the game does it everywhere else, it's an incredibly small change that would make things way easier.
And I know how exploration works, i don't neccesarily have a problem with them, it makes the game way more intriguing. It's just that at the start, the player is going to be most keen on the camera, and having 30 seconds tops is going to make them unsure as to what the game is trying to be. Since most porn games don't just lock the good parts out instantly, and you don't need to grind 4 hours just to get a bit of satisfaction.
First time playing, the controls are extremely clunky. Perhaps a feature should be added so that an action happens on the first possible frame after a previous one. (input buffering), so that actions can get qued in one after another without leaving periods where the mf is just standing still. Many modern games use it for a reason...
This game is just a patience test, gameplay is extremely barebones and the mechanics are not explained well at all. I couldn't understand, even after multiple rereads . It doesn't have any reset layers, which are basically what gives incremental games their core loop. No satisfaction whatsoever. The animation is really minimalist, doesnt even deserve the 18+, kind of feels forced just so it can have the tag. I was left really dissapointed.
This game does a pretty good execution of the general combat and gameplay, being modeled after undertale ofc. Though there are still some problems with it, mainly the balancing and some underutilized mechanics.
First being items, there aren't any reasons as to why anyone would ever want to use a healing item, since the game is generally pretty easy, and you get fully healed after every battle. Makes no sense putting it in the game if it doesnt really contribute anything, undertale has a different gameplay loop, which makes the inventory system actually useful, but here it really doesnt serve any purpose. Even though surviving is pretty easy, the difficulty of some attacks wary widely, going from incredibly easy to just wth xd. The general challenge is more from how the game randomly chooses attacks that might inconvenience you more than others. This especially goes for hitless, some attacks are just plain unfair. The method of unlocking scenes is also pretty tedious (if not editing files, which a lot of others do), basically doing the same thing in essence, just slightly varied, no real changes in gameplay, same attacks. Good game tho, sprites are nice.
